When no interest was shown by networks, Vince was left with an incredibly large roster and little television time. Along with this, there was no more competition left for the WWF to conquer. The original brand split happened in 2002 when the WWF held the very first draft on WWF television. With Ric Flair owning Raw and Vince McMahon owning Smackdown, the split owners of the World Wrestling Federation would choose superstars to represent their respective brands.
