Regal had a complete change of character where he would say he's no longer a common wrestler, he now had the power to do whatever he wanted to both the Raw show and the superstars who competed on the brand. To show off this newfound power, Regal would turn the lights off in the arena during matches and he even ended a Raw broadcast early. Triple H vs Randy Orton for the WWE championship headlined an episode of Raw and because of William Regal, fans at home didn't see the end of the main event. Many believed that William Regal's push (after winning King of the Ring) was leading to a feud with Triple H and, maybe, the WWE Championship.
