There’s a number of ways to work towards this, but I’ve come across and superb punch speed enhancement method that I now use with my boxers. This technique is courtesy of Andy Wake, the founder of Boxercise. Andy is a really smart guy, has decades of experience in sports development and is a passionate advocate of all things boxing. Some key points: 1. The resistance band I am using provides a 15lb to 35lb resistance. 2. Make sure you are properly warmed up, this speed drill presents risks around hyperextension of the elbow. 3. This is quality based speed drill, not quantity. 4. Build it in as a regular part of your boxing training program, but don’t do it a week ahead of any fight. 5. 10 seconds of punching with 20 seconds rest - 5 sets.
