It's 6.17.1996, the WWF is on the USA Network while WCW is live on TNT. We're one night removed from The Great American Bash 1996 and the big story coming out of the PPV was The Outsiders and Eric Bischoff segment. Bischoff announced that Hall and Nash's challenge had been accepted, and three guys from WCW will defend the company in a match against Hall, Nash and a mystery third man at the Bash at the Beach show. Vince McMahon wants to crown a new WWF King of the Ring and this weeks episode of raw features the KOTR quarter final matches. Owen Hart, Jake Roberts, Marc Mero, Steve Austin, Goldust and Jake Roberts are all in action this week, and everyone is trying to secure their spot in the King of the Ring pay per view. WWF history would be made at the PPV but the company are now entering a real bad spot as WCW begins picking up win after win in the television ratings.
