Hopeless Situation

Unfortunately, then the 2022 Chinese movie "Hopeless Situation" turned out to be another questionable, mass-produced movie of dubious quality to make it out of the Chinese cinema. In fact, just by looking at the movie's cover, then you know what kind of movie you are in for. Yet, I opted to give the movie a chance, nonetheless, as some of these movies actually are watchable. "Hopeless Situation" from writer and director Jianhua Chi wasn't one such movie. I managed to endure half of the ordeal, then I just couldn't take any more of the erratic storytelling, the randomness of every single scene, the pointless characters and the insanely poor CGI. The storyline in "Hopeless Situation", as written by Jianhua Chi, just didn't make sense. It felt like Jianhua Chi was making things up on the fly as the filming progressed, and there was no red thread throughout the course of the narrative. And that made for a very erratic and random viewing experience. And I have to say that I didn't enjoy that one bit, and thus found very little entertainment and enjoyment in the movie. I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, but I can't claim to be impressed with what I saw, because the character gallery was bland and pointless, and the dialogue that Jianhua Chi had written was cringeworthy. "Hopeless Situation", while made in 2022, had amazingly poor CGI effects. From animated shurikens, explosions and giant lizards. Sure, there was a lot of things going on, but it just looked atrocious. This is definitely not a movie that I will return and attempt to finish watching. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend you to waste your time, money or effort on. Some of us did in greater or lesser extend, so you don't have to. You're welcome. My rating of "Hopeless Situation" lands on a very generous two out of ten stars.
