Everything about this movie was great right from the beginning. The acting was incredible and made us forget this was actually a movie we were watching. It is definitely a "feel good" movie but in these difficult times it is exactly what all of us need. Congratulations to Hallmark for producing this. One final praise is the incredible song at the end "Twas the Night Before Christmas". We have played that repeatedly since first hearing it. That will also be around for a long time!
I watch it 2-3 times every year. It's a beautiful story - and the man and woman don't fall in love five days after meeting. They've been friends for years and never looked past their friendship. An angel helps them find each other. It is just a feel good Christmas movie. Hallmark should do more like this one - instead of the romance causing love in a few days/weeks - where everyone changes their future plans...
It was an exquisite Christmas romance movie. One of the most truly touching and moving Hallmark movies I've seen after bingeing for days. Prepare yourself for a few tears. The film grew to what seemed to be a powerful conclusion then offered more. My favorite of many Hallmark films I truly enjoyed. Highly recommended for anyone drawn to HEA Hallmark Christmas romances.
In looking at other reviews I see that Harold is pretty popular. For me he was annoying and Sergio Di Zio was overly passionate. Toward the end, it was understandable when he was running out of time, but he was the too intense early on. And I know you have to suspend credibility in these movies, but I just didn't see why Dave would trust him. In addition, I never warmed up to Dave. I didn't see any spark to him. I liked the job Jessalyn Gilsig did, with one exception. The exception - I didn't think her voice was outstanding, as you would expect for someone aspiring to solo, not even in the special song. She was nice to listen to, but just that - nice. The song itself was also nice. Since many other reviewers liked the acting, at least Di Zio, maybe you will too, in which case the story in this movie is good and has layers. We get the full story only after peeling them away.
Corrine is a musician who works in a music store; her boss Dave is an old friend of hers, and is sweet on her but would never show it because she has never seen him as boyfriend material. However, Christmas is coming up and she is fresh off a break-up with Tim, who keeps calling her hoping for a second chance. We know a bit about Corrine's background: her grandfather, overseas during WWII, sent her grandmother songs instead of traditional letters. The last one she got was on a Christmas Eve before he was reported killed, and when she died, she gave the song to Corrine as a keepsake, which she treasures. Her favorite ornament, also from her grandmother, is of a group of carolers, and one night, when some carolers come to her door, she notices that the front-and-center singer, Harold, is wearing the same snowflake scarf that one of the ornament carolers is wearing. Wouldn't you know that, a couple days later, Harold winds up as a seasonal worker at the music store. This is when the movie takes a "Wonderful Life" twist: Harold is actually an angel who has been assigned to get Corrine and Dave together. If he succeeds, he'll win his wings. But Harold has his hands full since Dave is a little gun-shy because of his own failed romances, and just as it looks like Corrine is starting to see Dave in a romantic light, that rat bastard Tim comes back in the picture. Can Harold get everything straight before midnight on Christmas Eve? I give this Hallmark holiday movie a few extra points for its somewhat original plot. Yes, it's stolen from It's a Wonderful Life but it does have a couple of nice variations, and in its plot point involving an old song written by a dead loved one, even borrows a bit from the climax of The Bishop's Wife. The mostly Canadian cast, none of whom I remember seeing before, is fine. I like that Dave (Graham Abbey) is a little rougher-looking than the usual shiny bland romantic leads, and Sergio Di Zio, as the angel, gives an almost eccentric performance that ends up working well. I had some problems with plot loopholes that I can't discuss here, but I recommend this as something just a little different from the Hallmark Christmas Factory.
I cried through out this movie. After Harold talks with a man. And tells him his story of love and loss. Sergio played the part so well just his expression was so real I could feel the pain of this character. I am not easily moved by many of Hallmark movies they are so predictable but this movie just grabbed and spoke to me. I have watched it 7 times. This movie you have to pay attention or important info will be missed. If you watch this movie do it with and open mind and pay close attention to what it said. It to me made my Christmas. Thank the actors and Hallmark for this wonderful movie. This movie makes me feel so warm and thankful for my loving family. We never know how much time we have on this earth. We need to be thankful for all the blessings in our lives. This movie to me strongly encourages this. I love, this movie.
Harold is out to get his wings, but first he must help a heartbroken woman see what is right in front of her. He must match her with her childhood friend before Christmas Day. So the "angel" is Harold the "ornament" is a family heirloom that her grandfather gave to her grandmother when they met. As she places the ornament on her tree, ding-dong the woman's doorbell rings and she finds carolers dresses exactly like the ornament. Coincidence? The movie that follows is delightfully funny and charming. Worth a view.
