Iron Reign is a watchable Spanish crime drama set in the criminal underbelly of the Barcelona port. The short eight episode long season one combines intrigue, drama, treachery, police, drugs and even a love triangle. Unfortunately, the potential of the story is lost amidst flashbacks, confusing story twists, too many main characters and subplots within subplots. The basic storyline concerns one family, the Manchados, who manage everything illegal at Barcelona port. The plot focuses on a cocaine drug deal with foreign sellers which, due to double dealing within the family, goes off the rails and efforts to stave off a disaster as a result of the failed deal. Meanwhile, Spanish authorities have set their sights on bringing down the Manchados by infiltrating the family. Can't say anymore without giving away too much. Iron Reign is an easy series to watch. It may not win critical acclaim but it's far from a waste of time. The ending may not be to one's liking but Netflix is setting viewers up for season two.

It started so-so, but I was intrigued how it could evolve. I stopped watching after episode 3 after a very unrealistic shooting scene with the police. It started as a scene like from the A-team where no one died after 1000 bullets, and then only the top of the top pro agents of the police died in a way like it was a Bollywood style movie. It was too much after all the other cliché scenes. The actors are ok, the scripting is not. Too many fuzzy movie items like flashbacks and so. It all feels weird, plots and actions are not how a normal person would act. Could have been good, but not for me. Nice try but no.

The English translation for this Spanish web series is IRON REIGN. It's all about gang warfare and a never ending family conflict. Actually the first 5 episodes were quite good but then(maybe because the maker had a contract with Netflix to provide 8 episodes)episodes 6 and 7 were filled with totally unnecessary and unimportant subplots which definitely reduced the quality of the web series to just about average at best. Even in the 8th and final episode of Season 1,lots of questions were left unanswered to make way for a 2nd season. All in all the 2 unimportant episodes made the 1st season a disappointment! 5/10.
