Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez

Magandang pelikula!

I enjoyed it. I almost skipped over it as I generally don't watch things like this. But I like football, I lived in Bristol while Aaron played football at Bristol Central, and I like the Patriots. It showed him growing up, his family strife, then college and getting drafted with the Pats.....and the 3 murders (almost 4) he was involved with. Three one hour episodes that I watched in the same evening. It pulled me in. I recomend this documentary.

Being from Europe and not interested in American Football, I never heard anything about Hernandez. So I somehow stumbled over this Mini- Series on Netflix without reading or knowing anything about it. This documentary is heart wrenching and once again shows pretty good the complex process of one ( above average gifted young) man's life gone totally wrong. We learn, it may be the sum of many different events and experiences that can lead to devastating, bad decision making, and how important it is to have a safe social environment with truly caring and open minded people.

Instead of telling a compelling and informative narrative, this is just click-bait after click-bait news footage strung together that seeks to titillate. There is a powerful story here. But you won't find it in this exhibit of cheap and lazy film-making.

Genuinely a horrible documentary. The production value is great, but they spend 95% of the documentary trying to push their own narrative. By FAR the most important fact and contributing factor to the mind of Aaron Hernandez was his mind.. Which was severely damaged as he had a severe case of CTE. you'd think with the name of this documentary and the findings, that this would be the main point of the documentary? Well you'd be wrong, it gets a several minute mention at the end of the documentary and the other 2.5 + hours is spent trying to say that him being in the closet was probably the reason he committed these atrocities when he literally has severe brain damage. Very disappointed.

Like everyone else I knew the headlines, but getting a detailed view of the whole case was interesting. There's no way to know if Hernandez made his decisions because of abuse, desperation to keep his sex life secret, CTE or was he simply a sociopath? Maybe all of the above. Unlike most documentaries this didn't seem to be driving an agenda, just presenting the facts. They didn't lock in on one reason it could have happened, they detailed many possibilities through their research, Hernandez's jail conversations and interviews with people that knew him. I highly recommend this documentary.

Whenever someone tells you "money buy happiness", show him this documentary.

I'm shocked that more people aren't dismayed by this "documentary" more than they are. The film makers appear to lack any sort of focus, let random people (through editing) make completely unsubstantiated claims while taking no actual ownership of any claims themselves. I was especially disturbed by the use of what should probably be private conversations between the accused (convicted) and their loved ones on the prison recording systems. I hope that people can appreciate what that means. Do they really? I find it disturbing and parasitic. Those conversations appeared to add no insight, and, in my opinion, were of poor taste to include. Even convicts are human beings. The constant use of cheap overly theatric camera angles, zooms, pans, mood music, and salacious accusations made me raise my eyebrows a number of times and wonder; this is seriously being considered a documentary? Conclusion: Netflix mudslinging that appears to be succeeding. So, you can expect a ton more of this tripe in the future. Don't confuse what you see with fact. This is just Barnum-style entertainment.

He killed people in cold blood. Brain injury, or hiding his gayness in the macho NFL doesn't excuse this. I don't doubt he had brain injury from his football career, but so do many other players. They don't go out killing people. He was a sociopath, or better to describe a psychopath who used his status to be a thug.
