The ratings are totally reversed in my opinion. Nic's pen pal was far better than Sydney's Journey. Overall it's a cute concept. But it also seems they don't talk all too much, but the one referred to the ladies as aunties to her kids. And yet they set up a video call when someone is in a love club emergency and not just regular daily friends. It's 2023. Where is the text chain? Sydney sends an email to say she needs them. And in both they all just drop everything for a week? Nic: the inn is closed for remodel and yet, they are able to get there right away to stay? Even with lying about who they are. It's unrealistic. She is trying to get her business going and yet she spends all this money for a job she won't get paid for? And when an inn closes for remodels they aren't looking for someone to go in and swipe out the doilies and add s'mores and a charcuterie board to a "honeymoon suite" it's just silly. And he talks about what's in her letters. So wouldn't she ask if it wasn't you how'd you know what I wrote? Do you know what was written back? Woulda changed everything. Proper ending. I liked these characters. Sydney- she had to pivot after getting hurt in college so she has a blog now. In the other episode it sounds kinda new. What else has she been doing for 10 years? Blogging is obviously a full time job but it didn't really seem like it here. This whole time they sounded like 3 years out of school not 10. Bryce broke up with her 4 times in college the last being just walking away on NYE. They couldn't be that serious to keep pining after him for a decade. And not seeing him in 10 years then all the sudden non stop. A doctor goes to a conference him and his hospital group of runners aren't staying in town for a week to do a half marathon. It's just stupid. February in Canada and they are wearing light jackets to run and a dress or jeans and a shirt? Hmmmm. Again the friends drop everything to stay with her while she trains to cook up this situation. And she hasn't run since she got hurt a decade ago? Bryce is a total tool. It's pretty bad. Just. No. Definitely should have like a 4 while Nic's story is a 6.
I don't usually write reviews but this movie was such a disappointment and I reached my limit with Hallmark's diminishing quality. I don't expect award winning writing, my expectations are reasonable. I have come to the conclusion thought that Hallmark does not employ a script supervisor for any of their films. Endless continuity issues and adolescent writing skills frequently damage what could be entertaining stories. It's disrespectful to viewers. This movie was barely tolerable. I could list several questionable examples but I honestly don't want to give more energy to this movie than I already have. If they use the same writers on the next segment expect the same subpar quality. Hallmark can be charming and touching fare, a guilty pleasure. I wonder if there was a shift when several actors (who are not all missed) left for another channel. The movies Hallmark has put out since at least the holidays have been less than gripping. The mystery channel movies have been significantly more engaging and interesting than the standard HMC. Hallmark, please do better.
I just had to come here and check out the ratings as I watched this monstrosity of a movie. It was just horrible. One of the worst movies I've ever watched on Hallmark. Seems like they were going for a Wedding Veil vibe with the girlfriends thing. It really was a dud from the beginning. The lack of emotion boyfriend/fiance. The sloppy proposal. Her fiance was barely mentioned again during this liefest. It just got worse and worse as the movie went along. I kept hoping something would happen to redeem this movie but it never happened. The lead was upset he lied when she was the biggest liar of them all. So much deception. Just hated this movie and all the characters. The bar guy might have been the only decent one in the movie. The whole wellness studio thing was so stupid. If you want to watch a horrible movie, by all means, watch this stinker that really isn't even worthy of 1*.
5.9 stars. Somewhere amidst a genius concoction, and a cast of potentially likable characters, stands "The Love Club". Unfortunately, I felt the need to bail out after a sassy girl and a prissy girl let a seemingly genuine guy have a thorough whipping; meanwhile another girl remained neutral and the last girl was somewhat indifferent. After all of this confusion had transpired and "The Love Club" had been devastated by the bull in a china shop that I will refer to as a dead end script and a lifeless pairing of two actors, I am spent... What a supreme disappointment that started off so full of promise, with an original idea and four women who appeared to be up to the challenge. I lost interest as It was starting to deflate a quarter of the way in, and was totally flat by the half-way point. I stuck around simply out of curiosity to witness the inevitable derailment of one of the most wrecked stories ever given the green light by Hallmark. The lead female is completely impossible. I have liked her in every other role she's done, so why did they have to ruin her for this? She comes off as rigid and snappy, and not a woman I'd pine for even remotely as he does. The other three women are hit and miss and I could delve into each one individually, but I don't feel like taking the extra time. I will simply add that they don't jive as a group of old friends, but rather seem forced and awkward too often, especially for women in their 30's. And then there's the final reveal of the true pen pal, which was most unwanted and best left a mystery as I shivered in revulsion at the whole scene. This film is rotten. WARNING: KEEP OUT!
Hallmark has reached a new low with this movie. The main character spends the entire time cheating on her new fiance. No depth to the character, who completely lacks, ironically, character. This could have been a fun new series, like the Wedding Veil movies. Unfortunately it completely lacks any substance, morals, or values. The male lead character isn't much better. No depth, along with his lies and scheming make him completely unlikable. Very weak plot. Weak acting, just no substance at all. Hallmark really needs to get a clue on who their fan base is or they will lose it completely. Not worth the time wasted to watch. Do not recommend.
I had somewhat high hopes for this movie. The premise seemed okay (another Wedding Veil kind of thing with a group of friends who support each other) but this one went off the rails fast. The heroine gets engaged in the opening scene and then immediately goes off on a ladies weekend looking to connect with a pen pal from her college days to see if he is her soulmate. And none of her friends seem to think there's anything wrong with saying yes to a proposal and then immediately trying to find another man? When she meets him, she lies and pretends to be the interior designer he's hired to redo his inn. Lie after lie after lie. This movie ended up being a dumpster fire on an out-of-control barge floating down a burning river. It almost became the second Hallmark Channel movie to receive a 1 from me, but I wanted to leave "If I Only Had Christmas" in a class by itself.
"I've been trying so hard to find the perfect person that I've just been sabotaging everything." -Female lead That should be the tagline of the movie. Nick basically spent the whole movie trying to cheat on her fiancé, with the script writer/director trying to show us that she's this sweet innocent women just wanting to find The One. She's looking for someone else to be her true love, she's going on dates with other men. How did she think this was okay? At least break up with your fiancé before you go on this silly trip to sabotage everything. And she and the male lead lied several times to each other...are we supposed to be rooting for them to be together? And this is supposed to be a four film thing, with each woman getting her own movie to find true love? I sure hope the writers for the next scripts drastically change the tone of the movies so they're not like this one. But I probably won't watch them anyway.
This "movie" is absolutely one of the most horrible in Hallmark's history. Truly unwatchable and disgusting. The actors should feel guilty to grace this this "film" with their presence. (Talk about selling out for the Benjamins!!) Disgusting in every way. Terrible script and storyline. For instance, the hapless "fiancé" was treated as disposal, insignificant trash by the lead female actor, who was portrayed as an innocent, helpless "love"victim (I won't mention her real name for fear of permanently associating her acting career with this piece of garbage). Needless to say, the writers, producers, and actors responsible for this movie should be ashamed of themselves. PLEASE don't produce any followup films and the thought of a "Love Club" series is terrifying.
