These are absolutely fantastic! Massive kudos to the guest actors and Will Arnett for their performances. Jason Bateman and Maya Rudolph were geniuses in this episode with Jason barely chuckling ocassionally at the natural silliness that was unfolding. I laughed so hard at one point I was crying. This is not for folks looking for slapstick humour - this is dark sarcastic comedy at its finest! I imagine the negative reviews are from folks who just aren't into sarcasm. The subtle nuances and clues and set touches really keep you on your toes to keep looking for the details! Please - make more of these - for every season! They are fantastic!

I found this bizarre and unfunny. The overall atmosphere seemed too far removed from Christmas and the Christmas spirit, and this is certainly not family entertainment. The background of the set looked more like a Hanukah celebration, with the Star of David hanging next to the characters' heads in most of the scenes and Hebrew letters hanging for some inexplicable reason from office ceilings. There was one character dressed as an elf, who appeared mortified at the humiliation he was being put through, rather than laughing his way through merry Christmas scenes, and one dead Santa. Beyond that there was little that could be connected with the festive season. The improv felt forced and uncomfortable. I felt that that if someone had take the cast of "Whose line is it anyway?" and asked them to improvise a similar sketch they would have come up with something far more entertaining off the cuff.

Sometimes I wonder, why such a film exists, and who did believe in it, to invest some money? There is virtually nothing funny, as my Z-Gen would say - Cringe! If you like to feel ashamed for everyone on the set, than go for it, otherwise, better protect your impression of Bateman and co. The concept itself is like reality show and hidden camera would try to have a baby, but Dumb abd Dumber won't let them. I would really like to meet people who are lughing on these jokes, they might know some good stuff. There is a great humor, solid humor, sarcasm and dead humor. Who killed it? Watch for the answer.

I'm a huge fan of Arnett and Bateman, and gave a perfect 10 to the original series because it absolutely cracked me up at every turn, specifically Conan, Marshawn Lynch, and Kumail Nanjiani. I didn't laugh quite as much in this one, and I think maybe part of it was the format of having 3 'detectives' at once. Bateman had some hilarious scenes before Maya Rudolph showed up, and then I think it just got too... complex. They couldn't really play off of each other. Don't get me wrong, Rudolph is great, particularly in Idiocracy and Brooklyn 99, but in terms of creative improv she was kind of a dud. Didn't really laugh much at anything she did. And then for some dumb reason they brought in Pete Davidson for the last 10 minutes, who I still to this day struggle to see why anyone thinks is funny. Just basically came in and messed the whole thing up. Truly the Britta of the comedy universe. Started off great, ended with a fizzle. I sort of wish that the guest stars would have tried a bit more and gotten more into it. I've seen dozens of live improv shows and it's easy to tell when people are dialing it in. And he seems like a chill guy, but for the love of Pete, no more Davidson.

This has some very funny moments. Will & Jason have incredible chemistry together. Having a Marshawn Lynch cameo was awesome! I thought Maya was a great addition as well. She & Jason both just go along with any absurd idea or premise. Their improv isn't always a home run but, for the most part, it was very well done. One nitpick, Sean Hayes. Much like their podcast together, Sean added nothing here. I realize his character is dead but seeing him under that Santa beard led to an audible ugh for me. I just have no interest in seeing him on screen. The bit with the sports reporter doing the interview naked was brilliant! Will & Jason did all they could to hold it together. Jason just rolling with it was fantastic. And this is what the first season of Murderville missed. Too many guest stars who couldn't just let go and get in on the humor. Everyone involved in this special bought in and had tremendous fun with whatever they were given.

Ok so this is a Christmas comedy that is not rehearsed ( partially?) and actors have to make up the plot as they go along! Obviously it shows and feels more like an episode of " who's line is it anyway?"! I was loosing interest pretty fast solely because there are so many more worthy things to watch! I have to say though that I have a lot of respect for those actors especially the 2 main characters that have been kept in the dark about the plot! It does take a lot of talent to carry a show just improvising! Bateman is sharp and funny and Maya Rudolph had to keep from laughing many times! It's interesting to watch what they come up with on such short notice!

This show is kind've like SNL - it is fun to see the actors goofing around and genuinely laughing/cracking up at one another... but it doesn't exactly draw laughs or really entertain. Much like the main series - the bits go on too long (another problem shared with SNL) where they take a humorous concept and just draw it out for 2-3 minutes too long. Jason Bateman's improv was great - he had tons of witty lines... his "guess" at the end gave me the only genuine laughs while watching this (everyone's reaction to his guess... including the crew that you hear laugh off screen was hilarious), Maya Rudolph also had some good improv and clearly wanted to go bigger with it at times but held back... then Pete Davidson showed up and was... Pete Davidson-esque ... you know that thing he does where is breaks the 4th wall and laughs and doesn't really treat anything with any seriousness. It's worth the watch if you just want something on in the background but it could have been better. This is a fun concept... but the execution isn't quite there in terms of the story. Also, the killer is painfully obvious immediately in this one.
