Production is good. Story is alright. This type of show is too flamboyant for me. It won't be for everyone. My critique of this show is how cringe it is. I think it's always cringe when writers modernize gods. Make them Hip; cool. Have them dress fashionably. It down plays the characters. It's like having old people use young people slang. It's just off when old people do it. It also comes off little mockerish. I get it, it's Hollywood. People should be allowed to write what they want but that doesn't change how people respond to uncanny valley material and what makes them cringe. It's like having a modern liberal hipster Jesus that dresses in designer gear. Having gods in suits, giving them flamboyant Miami type shirts. They're trying to hard to make something cool. And it's just not cool. For that I give it a 6. I seem 6 episodes so far. And the only things that caught my attention were the outfits and sets because gods are I guess rich and fashionable.
I was disappointed to find out that not a single actor is Greek. Most actors don't resemble Greeks. I would say the actors that play Ari and Poseidon are the closest, but still. I doubt it's hard to find Greek actors in the UK. The thing is not even filmed in Greece, it's filmed in Spain's Costa Del Sol! At least one of the writers is Greek, but I would have wanted to see more actual representation. While I do appreciate the tribute to Greek mythology, it's sad to see that it does not include actual Greeks. So much for not appropriating cultures and supporting and including people of said culture...
Oh how my brain has ached for something like this, it was literally everything: mythological, educational, witty, sumptuous, brilliantly conceived, wonderfully executed, and sublimely acted by Jeff Goldblum, Stephen Dillane, and Janet McTeer in particular - although I am now a new fan of Nabhaan Rizwan, who played Dionysis. His fabulously nuanced facial expressions were hilarious and delightful. And as a long term pre-existing fan of Eddie Izzard, they didn't disappoint as Lacy either. Kaos is a veritable inclusive feast for the eyes and mind and I highly recommend it to thinking persons. Intolerant persons need not waste their time, you won't appreciate the artistry. The series in question is nothing short of a breath of fresh air in today's television landscape. From the very first episode, it's clear that this show is a labor of love, bursting with creativity in every aspect of its production. The casting is absolutely fantastic, bringing together a diverse ensemble of actors from various age groups and backgrounds, which adds an authentic richness to the story. It's particularly refreshing to see such a wide representation of different body types on screen, a testament to the show's commitment to inclusivity and real-world representation The editing is sharp and purposeful, ensuring that every scene flows seamlessly into the next, while the design and costume work are simply superb, perfectly capturing the essence of the show's unique aesthetic. The attention to detail in these areas truly elevates the viewing experience, making it visually captivating from start to finish At the heart of it all is an engaging story that grips you from the start and never lets go. The writing is nothing short of phenomenal, with dialogue and character development that feels both natural and compelling. Each episode leaves you eagerly anticipating the next In short, this series is a triumph of storytelling and production. The entire team deserves high praise for their hard work and dedication to bringing such a creative and inclusive vision to life. I can't wait to see where they take us in Season 2. Well done!
Boring, boring, boring. The worst part is that the creators couldn't decide on a genre. The actors perform as if it's a comedy, with exaggerated expressions and wide eyes, but there's no humor. And on the other hand, it's introduced you as a comedy, so you can't get into the really dramatic moments. The atmosphere of Greek myths is not captured; the inspiration from Greek mythology feels more like desecration than reinterpretation. A good idea, poorly executed. Greek mythology is absolutely amazing so it's like wasted opportunity. On top of that, the actor playing Dionysus is really bad, as if he was acting in a silent comedy.
Kaos is a series that seems tailor-made for "Modern Audiences," and by that, I mean it checks off every box on the diversity list, but somewhere along the way, they forgot to make it good. The cast is a colorful parade of diverse faces, which is great until you realize not one of them is actually Greek. You know, because that might've been too on the nose for a show about Greek gods. Jeff Goldblum as Zeus is the kind of casting choice that screams, "Look how quirky and cool we are!" Unfortunately, quirk doesn't translate to quality. Goldblum's usual charming weirdness feels like a lazy performance this time, probably because he realized halfway through filming that he was stuck in a plotline that goes absolutely nowhere. And he's not alone-every character is trapped in their own little storyline prison, each more irrelevant than the last. The show tries to sprinkle in some LGBTQ representation, because what's a modern show without it? But rather than feeling organic, it feels like the writers were ticking a box. The result? Characters you don't care about who exist solely to fill a quota, not to drive the story forward. The dialogue is the kind of cringy, self-aware nonsense that makes you wince, and the cast delivers it with all the enthusiasm of a high school drama class forced to perform Shakespeare. Speaking of the cast, it's as if someone picked actors out of a hat, with no regard for whether they can act-or sing. Watching some of these miscast characters stumble through their scenes is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. It's almost fascinating, but not in a good way. In the end, Kaos is a masterclass in style over substance, diversity over depth, and quirkiness over quality. It's what happens when a show is so desperate to be "for everyone" that it ends up being for no one.
So cool
this is an amazing series....This world is filled with people with bad taste, don't be one of them.
