Not Another Church Movie

Film yang bagus!

The start of this movie was quite shaky: it chaotic in a good way. The way they teased Tyler, was funny I guess. However, on overall the movie just played on the narrative shared on social media about Tyler Perry movies. Like they touched on the bad wigs jokes and how the black women in his movies go through the most all in the name of love. I think making the movie must have been fun for everyone on set, but it just came across as if the movie was trying too hard to be relatable. Most of the jokes on the movie felt like stuff that people joked about on social media. Perhaps if it was released at an earlier time it would've been the better received. I found it entertaining but not funny.

Humour is subjective, yes, but this movie was so unfunny that I couldn't be bothered to sit trough all of it. I stopped watching around the 30 minute mark during some kind of picnic scene, after a guy caught on fire and more terrible jokes. I watched this because I felt in the mood for spoof/comedy movies, and Not Another Church Movie killed it. I do not know what is going on in the background, apparently this parody was made to spite another director because he had fired a writer for not being funny enough. If said writer is behind this movie, I'm siding with the director that didn't find him funny. I recognized the character that played God and I have to wonder why would he sign up for this, he's a really famous person that was in Spider-Man movies, has he fallen off?

The absolute worst movie I've ever seen on every level. I can honestly say I didn't expect much but some classic laughs you get from low budget spoof movies but didn't even get that. I don't know who to blame, writers, producers, or director. It's like they all held hands and agreed it was a good idea to jump off a cliff together. It was a train wreck. I'm sad I'll never get my time back. The writing was just terrible. I'd say a child wrote it but it would have been better. And Jaimie must have owed someone a favor, cause damn! Now mickey on the other hand, no surprise there. Please for the love of Jaimie Fox save your time and money.

This movie is corny to the point of flat out silliness but that can be expected based on the title. If you're familiar with the Tyler Perry movies and the religious stuff he puts out there in context so to speak then these jokes will make sense. Even then the humor wore off for me after so many of the same slapstick movies that started with Airplane. Even the first Wayans brothers Scary Movie was funny. This one feels like it does try a little bit too hard for the same result. I'll admit though, adding Mickey Rourke to the mix was actually a good move. Although he'll probably look back and call this garbage, he does look like he's having fun. So just about every cliche sequence you've seen in a Tyler Perry movie is spoofed here. So if you have seen Tyler Perry's work then you'll get this one. If not, then skip it because some of the jokes are direct spoofs of past work of his. Otherwise, wait for streaming services unless you have $11 burning a hole in your pocket.

The real strength of the movie lies in its comedic timing and the cast's performances. The actors fully embrace their exaggerated roles, delivering a mix of witty one-liners and physical comedy. Not every joke hits, but there are enough laugh-out-loud moments to keep you entertained throughout. On the flip side, the movie doesn't offer much in terms of depth. Themes like faith, community, and redemption are touched upon but not explored in any meaningful way. These elements serve more as backdrops for the humor rather than focal points for reflection. If you're looking for a film with a profound message, this isn't it. But if you're in the mood for some light entertainment, it works. Visually, the film is colorful and vibrant, matching its playful tone. The soundtrack, blending gospel and pop, adds to the feel-good atmosphere. The direction is solid, focusing more on delivering laughs than on artistic innovation. It's perfect for a lazy afternoon when you want something light-hearted and silly. Go in with the right expectations, and you'll likely enjoy its charm and humor. It's not groundbreaking, but it's entertaining for what it is.

This movie is a parody, and I'd say it's a pretty good parody movie. It is on the level of other parody movies such as Date Movie, Superhero Movie, and whatever other parody you can think of. The story is heavily based on Tyler Perry movies, and is more of a jab than the Boondock's Pause episode. Despite it being a jab, it has its corny moments and it has its hilarious moments. The movie loosely follows several Tyler Perry movies, and is even funnier if you've seen Tyler Perry's plays. This movie is not a blockbuster and is not a movie that you'll enjoy without the context of Perry's movies. I definitely think this movie is worth watching if you've been missing a good parody movie or if you are familiar with the works of Tyler Perry, it's worth a watch. You'll get a good laugh, despite some of the lackluster acting. This should at least be available on Tubi or Peacock, due to the quality of the filming and acting.

"Not Another Church Movie," directed by Johnny Mack, attempts to spoof Tyler Perry's renowned Madea franchise, but it largely misses the mark. The film stars Kevin Daniels, Mickey Rourke, and Jamie Foxx, with Daniels delivering a notable performance as Taylor Pherry and MaDude. Despite these efforts, the film struggles due to poor direction and a lack of cohesive comedic timing () (). The movie's production quality is noticeably low, and the direction fails to land many of its intended jokes. While Mack's script has potential, his inexperience in filmmaking results in choppy editing and mismanaged pacing that detracts from the humor ( ). Additionally, the film's attempts at parody fall short, often resorting to direct reenactments of Perry's scenes without adding new comedic or critical layers The film also suffers from a lack of meaningful satire. While it touches on some of Perry's well-known tropes, it does not delve deeply into more substantial critiques, leaving much of its parody feeling toothless and overly reliant on surface-level gags (). Overall, "Not Another Church Movie" might entertain fans of low-budget comedies, but it does not offer the sharp, insightful parody it seems to aim for. The performances, especially from Daniels, provide some bright spots, but they are not enough to overcome the film's broader shortcomings.

This is a 0 rating. I've seen better movies on Tubi - no shade! There is no way that this "spoof" should have made it through a review process to even be on the big screen. Bad acting even from known vet actors/actresses. Flat punchlines! This movie could have clearly been on YouTube or not released at all. My family and I decided to leave after about 30 ish minutes. Literally nothing funny. We headed straight to customer service for a refund and was provided free passes on the next visit. I take accountability because I should have watched the trailers and read reviews because this was a major FLOP. Whoever created the movie must like to waste money.
