Romance in the House

Today my fav kdrama since last month come to an end 'Romance in the house' It's a light-hearted, rom-com, family drama. It's about family reunion and second chances. Don't get fool with English title. Here romance meant to be love between family. Well, main story is about older couple who got divorced due to circumstances, later how they get back together but younger couple also has it's own slow-steady journey towards romance. We can see many relationship dynamics between Father-daughter, Mother-daughter, father-son, friends, colleagues, neighbours, siblings n lovers. Other side characters also has their own story which is good. Characters developed with each passing episode. Few serious scenes turned into hilarious in no time. Drama has some melodious OSTs. In the end, characters choose modern approach towards life, parents supporting children in what they want to do in life, deciding not to get married, staying single n enjoying life for ourselves etc. Many viewers has complaint with NaEun and her character MiRae but as per my POV her acting n character developed in each passing episode. I found my new Oppa, my new source of pleasure Choi MinHo aka TaePyeong. He get to play various shades of TaePyeong compared to his previous acting gigs. Very endearing to watch on screen, looking forward to his next work/ drama. Considering both NaEun n MinHo are idols turned into Actors, I gave them fair chance. They done pretty good job, yes there's always a scope for improvement. I'll miss my Tae-Mi for sure. I expected to see something more for Tae-Mi in last episode nevertheless drama has happy ending.

Was prepared to give this a higher rating until the very last episode which was blasé; updates and conclusions of ea. Family member was nothing to rave about and disappointing IMO. My stars go to the following: Favorite Couple: Mi-Rae and Security Guard (CEO's son) Favorite actors: Security Guard, Moo-jin (Mi-Rae's dad), and Mi-Rae. Best Scene: 2 father's fighting to protect their daughter, son (Mi-Rae's dad &Security Guard's dad the CEO) Overall was a cute romance with my favorite couple. Story was more about family struggles than romance though as the title might suggest, and the family struggles didn't really interest me that much other than the security guard's career struggle. Starts off as a murder mystery when the place burns down but later turns into a ridiculous story that didn't seem that humorous to me. The funniest moment IMO was the fight scene between the 2 fathers as it escalates.

This series looks good with plot but poor direction, dialogues and acting make this series really dull and boring. This series has Female lead which is daughter of Family, she has very limited expressions, maybe two or three, I don't know about this actress but in this series her acting is not good. This series has one main plot and many sub plot but I think director forget about main plot and focusing on many sub plots. In Main plot story has two leads which is daughter (son na-eun) and Father (ji jin-hee) but interaction between them is very limited and in full series they have never sorted out their issues. Father act likes teen and even daughter also not looks like very mature which is claimed in story many times. From Rom-com perspectives no couple has touching chemistry they all looks too dull and comedy is also very lame. I saw ji jin-hee in DP2, his role is very limited there but In limited role he show his capability and how good he can act. I saw kim ji-soo in hwarang and she can act very good too but this is director's fault if he can't use that level of talented actors. Overall If you have 12+ hours to spare please don't waste on this boring series.

1. It's totally odd as a family drama or romcom or whatever it is. A father comes back after over a decade and gets so clingy to his wife, yet does not even have the decency to make amends with the daughter who has devoted her life to the family in his absence, before he goes around chasing after his own happiness acting like a teenager in love. It's too silly of a storyline. Even after so many years, he is still an immature father who can't seem to put his kids before himself. It's hard to watch shallow and unrelatable main character and other elements are also not helping. 2. Comedy looks unnatural and cringy at times 3. Music/sound effects a bit too much 4. Mystery subplots fall flat 5. Subpar acting and directing.

The main male character is very handsome. I guess this is why it is OK for him to return after being gone along time, In his-previous incarnation. He went through family money and that is why hisWife became frustrated with him and left him, and the family did well without him so when he returns mysteriously rich suddenly with no explanation as to how his turn and finances came about, we are expected to hope for his reunion with his ex, no explanation of how his turn in fate came about however, some innuendo about it being illicit is allowed to Trickle through the drama. Because this basic character paradox is never really answered by episode 10,a lot is expected from the audience in terms of forgiving him, and imagining that he can reconcile with his wife and family. The 10 episodes are in this way a bit of an endurance contest and not satisfying. The subplot of the daughters romance with the son of her boss also has its issues The story of the daughter and mother, as they discover the way in which their relationship has been twisted by the trauma they have been through is the highlight of the drama. The father is very watchable, the other stars Not so much. I wanted to like it, but it feels like it took too long to get to its key character development. I ran out of patience and started speeding through the story, such as I could.
