I started watching the Ruby Red trilogy last night, up until midnight today. I'm absolutely in love and obsessed! I mean, who wouldn't love a love story where you're both very rich, provided by the institute you're working for, and could literally enjoy life like how "ride or die" buddies describe? You could travel through time, learn formal manners and etiquette, have new cool clothing each working day, relax at literally any time you want, while still living your life rich and free of financial charges just through working for the institute you've always been destined to be in as a gene carrier. Like, bro- And not to mention the fact that Gwendolyn and Gideon are so hot, and they literally fit as a couple, bro! They're so attractive, and it's certain that the 1950s certainly is their era. And I did agree with Gwendolyn's decision during their last scene in the final movie, where she took the drink that'd make her mortal, which was also the drink she used to re-live Gideon. Somehow, it would be pretty cool to have them both immortal, which was pretty much a choice she could've made by making him drink the potion, but instead, she chose mortality for the both of them through drinking the potion. Overall, I really love their character developments and their love story, and it'd certainly be one of the love stories I'd genuinely want for myself if it were to truly exist.
After Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue, the last movie of the series, Emerald Green, was a good finale.
Actually it is finally here - with the last movie in the series ... which coincides with being the last book that is being adapted. Now I have not read the books, that are obviously aimed at teenagers. So I am not really the target audience. But I have seen the other movies too ... and I sort of liked them. Through all the mayhem and nonsense they make you go through, they are likeable. Yes time travel has never been handled with less accuracy, but you just should give it a pass ... if you don't think you can do it, you'll be annoyed all the way through ... why does a vaccination of a famous person not change the future, but an accidental meeting with Shakespeare make him come up with one of his best known quotes (to be or not to be) ... the latter is meant to be just a funny anecdote ... but one that is also a story element of sorts ... again do not overthink it, do not try to make sense of it ... you'll be better off. I won't rate the "acting" either - over the top and all that. Cut it some slack or don't watch at all.
This is a romantic fantasy story about travelling in the time, chasing to take over the power, fight between angels and badasses and so on. ......there were some supernatural characters, who were actually different gems like rubin or diamond. If one could get them alltogether, one could get the endless power, so some characters decided to smth with it. Firstly, I was captured by the magical story and fabulous abilities of the main characters. Yes, it was quite interesting. But later I watched the 2nd part, so the 3rd one wasn't so catchy. If we can call it all catchy. Everything seemed repeatitive in each story. I would recommend it to everyone who is found of fantasy. You would find it not bad. People who want to find something new or touching, can waste their time. Thank you.
I loved the books sooo much when I was younger. And it's not like the movie adaptations for ruby red and sapphire blue were masterpieces and always stuck to the books, but Emerald green really takes the cake. I vividly remember how I burst into hysteric laughter in the middle of a cinema when I watched this for the first time. Not only is the acting of the lead actress and many others HORRIBLE - well I'm sure the bad dialogue they had at hand didn't make it easier - but also the plot is just SO, SO BAD. They should have just stuck to what happened in the books! Why would they give us this weird and utterly misplaced movie that has more plot holes than parallels to the book when they could have used the perfectly fine ending in the books? And did I already mention how bad the acting performance was? Because really, this is beyond cruel. I'm sorry to say it, but Gwendolyn was probably my least favorite character out of the movies because of the actress. So... That being said, in comparison to other German Productions, the way the movie was made is not complete trash, which is why I give it 2 stars. Here are some things I liked: Charlotte's character growth (which is really the only thing the writers did right) the setting Here are the things I loathed: this movie is so terribly dramatic. Like, I live for drama, but this is WAY too much. the lines. No one, and I mean NO ONE talks like that. the plot. Seriously, wtf. the fact that they had a neat ending that they chose to ignore and replace with the biggest crap I have seen in my entire life. the horrible acting. the black catsuit. Why? WHY? a million more things
"Smaragdgrün" or "Emerald Green" is a German movie from this year, a big screen release, and I personally think this is a contender for worst German movie of the year. But first things first: It was written and directed by Fuchssteiner and Schade, the two filmmakers that also worked on the two previous installments already and the whole thing is based on the novels by Kerstin Gier. Just like the previous films I mentioned, this one here is also relatively long, comes close to the two-hour mark and the cast will include familiar faces from the previous films as well as some new ones too. The cast is not really the problem. Yes there are relatively untalented people in here like Lotsi, Kanies or Ullmann, but there are also talented actors included here like Simonischek or Thalbach. And I also believe that lead actress Maria Ehrich is nit that bad really. The huge problem here is the script/screenplay. And as I have not read any of the novels, I am not entirely sure if Gier is to blame or the people who adapted her work. But it is very clear that the outcome is a huge failure. Of course, the fantasy element (time traveling, immortality potions, secret societies) can excuse a bit of the absurd story and plot, but certainly not all of it. One of the worst components here is also the dialogue writing. At least one third of all that has been said during these 110 minutes was stuff that felt completely fake and unauthentic. And sadly, maybe another third of the dialogues feels just included to be as showy, as memorable, as deep and as meaningful without ever being any of these things. One perfect example of this is all the romantic talk. It is downright cringeworthy when people randomly ramble on about feeling like a metallic explosion when they are with anybody else because they love them so so much etc. and they never want to be without them. Great emotions there? Well, not really. Lets just say little emotion that feels to young teenage (girl) audiences like great emotion. And this is probably also the target group for these films. I'd be worried as a parent if my child grew up with stuff like that. I'd want my child to see quality. Anyway, I was a bit generous with the previous two movies giving them 4 stars out of 10 each, but I will not be generous here any more. The entire story makes almost no sense at all. The characters we are supposed to like are actually sometimes downright unlikable apart from being really bad actors. Lotsi is probably the worst of the bunch and I cannot see her have any career after this trilogy. Then again, she also suffers from the writing like everybody else, even a wonderfully talented actor like Simonischek, who plays the most generic, stereotypically uninteresting villain ever. And yeah, the entire film is also really predictable and certainly not in a good way as the ending feels almost as weak as everything else here. Really glad it's over now. This is the teenage-oriented alternative of a Rosamunde Pilcher film that meets "Die Wanderhure" and if you have seen any of these you know how garbage the quality must be. There is nothing in terms of quality fantasy in here like in the Harry Potter films of course. When people are talking about how bad the Twilight films are, then they are frequently wrong. But there probably is not a single criticism I have read about Twilight that does not apply to this movie here. Stay far far away.
