There are few films that portray adult relationships in a realistic light, fraught with the complex shades that we who are adults know exist. Not just the black and white. This is one of those films. I loved that this film shows the struggles that exist in all romantic relationships along with the soft and loving parts. The script is deftly written, with extremely natural dialog, both funny and poignant at every turn and those turns happen sometimes on the heels of each other, much like life. We are live in the gray know that life has many shades as do our sexualities, moods, psyches, and I revel in films that have the maturity to discuss that fact.

This film is dark and very honest and it moved me very much. I have been a long time fan of Fall, which now seems like a trip to the candy store after getting my heart broken in After Fall, Winter. You can see the years and growth from the director in this one and it is a sadly beautiful look at one's life and how we all hold a lot of pain within ourselves and we should actually share this and be honest about it. It is beautifully shot in Paris, which, like New York always seems to look good on film. There are a great deal of movies filled with fluff, but this movie just gets right to the point. With life and love, things are not always pretty and quite difficult. We can learn something about ourselves in this one. It's romantic, it's brutal, go see this film.

Being a fan of Eric Schaeffer movie since (If Lucy Fell).I never know what to expect with his movies. So I wasn't disappointed with charmingly bitter sweet and very edgy movie. We see Michael Shiver character from his Eric's movie Fall. Many years later and thousands of dollars in debt.Michael ends up in lovely Paris (which the city is a character all on it's own).Where he on a path getting his life back on track. But his inner masochistic demons tend to show up and make it impossible to have the love his so wants. He meets a complicatedly distant Parisian women and here ensues the dark and edgy love story. Eric's performance is raw and gritty.He has honest approach to love and life with his writing. And sheds light on misunderstood world of BDSM and what motivates someone to delve into that so recklessly. A not your run of the mill love story and it will stick with you for a long time after you watch it.

This movie is different there's no arguing that but in the best way possible. The chemistry between these two actor just makes you feel IT, every word, every emotion & their delivery......phenomenal. After Fall, Winter will make you laugh. It will make you cry. I personally felt my heart racing & expending rapidly. There is a tremendous amount love in Sophia & Michael's words. I'm just a nobody but even a nobody can be right! Add this to your list & I'd love to hear what you thought. While this movie is a sequel, you needed see the first film (Fall) to understand it but you would be missing out in a bad way if you don't.

I was flipping around one night and caught the second half of this film, so admittedly I haven't seen it from the beginning. I was immediately captivated by the dialogue and chemistry between the two leads. Or rather, I was captivated by Lizzie Brocheré's performance, and I got drawn into the burgeoning relationship between these two flawed people. It reminded me a little of "Before Sunrise," one of my favorite romantic films, for its honest, realistic dialogue and the way you get to "fall in love" right along with these two. *** May Contain Spoilers *** I was hopeful about the aspects of BDSM, thinking the film might try and treat the subject with realism and sensitivity--unfortunately, instead, those elements just seemed to turn into a plot vehicle at the end. And the end... ugh. If this had been a book I would have chucked it across the room. It just turned so ridiculously melodramatic and silly. I can see what the writer intended--another tragic take on "Romeo and Juliet," but it just didn't fly with me. And the implication that BDSM led them down that path is just insulting, to paraphrase what another reviewer said. Overall, I gave it a 6. The dialogue and performances kept me engaged, and I was pleased to see such range in Lizzie Brocheré, whom I'd seen only in "American Horror Story" previously. I hope she goes on to bigger and better things--she deserves it. The writer/director/star, Eric Schaeffer, well, he should maybe get back to writing some more, and come up with his own endings instead of ripping off Shakespeare, and not in a good way.

This is the film that made me write my first review of a film. It made me smile and almost cry in equal amounts. I found it neither predictable nor boring. I love the leading actress, beautiful to watch. The story has so many stories entwined within it, it was like unwrapping presents. Although a love story, it also explores the relationships that the lead characters, especially Sophie, have with other characters. It's not a happy ending but I'm not a happy ever after fan of American films. It's a Juliet and Romeo type of ending that leaves you slightly reeling. However, for all its quirkiness, the whole film had a really natural feel, even when dealing with unusual elements. I knew nothing of the director before watching this film and chose it solely on a brief synopsis on netflix. In my book, an excellent choice.

Loved it. I'm not in the industry so my review is coming from an indie film lover. Although I agree the male character was annoying at times, I found it to fit with the storyline. He was playing a struggling writer from America after all and who says it means he has to appear Harvard educated in leather loafers? I found the gypsy lady's character off -- not sure what it was, just off somehow. Otherwise, I felt everyone fit in perfectly. I adored the leading lady and have now become a fan. I will look for other films she is in. The ending made me sad, but I liked that. It would have come off too Hollywood (and would have been too easy in my opinion) to give it a happy ending. Frankly, I didn't expect for it to end the way it did so as sad as I was, it shocked me and left me thinking. What a beautiful story, well-directed and perfectly acted. Well done! I'll be watching for all your work now.
