I was not aware there were three of these movies so I watched this one first. I laughed at how insane and unbelievable the action and acting was. Then I went and watched Bad Ass. Now I really hate this second sequel. Danny Glover is way past his action days as Roger Murtaugh. The fight scenes are painful to watch as neither Danny Trejo or Glover are in any physical condition to pull off these stunts. The bank fight scene is a prime example. They are so slow in their movements, I could have taken a pee break in the time it took Glover to throw a punch. The plot is silly and I knew the twist almost immediately because it was so poorly disguised. Having now seen Bad Ass and how great it was and how perfect Trejo was for the character, it disappoints me so much that they tried to turn this into some kind of Lethal Weapon for geriatrics. Maybe they should have called it Geritol Weapon. I can't believe the same director did all three. Skip the sequels and just watch Bad Ass. Its so much superior to this movie. They really screwed the pooch on this one.
This movie was awesome. We loved it from start to finish. Kick ass action. Fun. Entertaining. Those who rated this movie low, expect the heroes and heroines to be perfect, although they themselves aren't. If you just relax and watch over a few beers this movie is fun.
Hardly a surprise, this is an action comedy with a silly story, full of clichés and stereotypical characters. Given that, it can be a somewhat entertaining way of passing time. It doesn't aspire to do more and nothing more should be expected. There is really no surprises, it is too predictable and go too far in a few jokes so that they become less fun. 3/10
A franchise based on a popular youtube video? It's happened/happening, and by the final shot, it seems that there is no give up yet......for the writers at least. So this time the boys foil a robbery, the video gets posted on the net again, and they decide to take a break to the Bayou, where the comic relief woman from the second is living with her fiancée, and the bloke from Die Hard 2 and Coming To America. No sooner as you can say 'montage of alcohol drinking', the comic relief woman is kidnapped by Duck Dynasty, and is held for a tasty ransom. So it's up to the guys to rescue her, wearing ever ridiculous outfits, and fixing a sub-plot including some young lad getting bullied by a really greasy haired lad. Here's a challenge for you, watch every film that Danny Trejo has appeared in, whatever quality the movie is, try it, he has been in almost every film ever made. The man was in Heat for crying out loud, and now he's comfortable making very generic, nuts n' bolts action movies. So the best thing to do is lower your expectations, and take comfort in knowing that the two leads are endearing enough, and ignore the abysmal acting from the rest of the cast, Amos aside. It's pretty clear who the bad guy is from the upstart, the director probably forgot to tell him not to go full pantomime. So for the rest of the film, we have the two taking out the bad guys very slowly, Amos joining them in taking out the bad guys very slowly, and a silly twist that you could see coming from about ten minutes in,my hanks to some truly terrible narrative and acting. But with a title like this, what else would you expect? Its watchable enough for a Sunday morning, and it's use of stock footage from Air America is both genius, and at the same time, hilarious. Throwaway stuff of the highest order....
"We need your help. This is a small town, we don't get to many of these types of crime around here." "This isn't LA, this is Baton Rouge." Frank Vega (Trejo) and Bernie Pope (Glover) have been invited to the wedding of the daughter of an old friend. What starts off has a happy occasion changes when she is kidnapped. When the cops aren't doing enough Frank and Bernie take matters into their own hands and as usual, will stop at nothing to fix things. This is a series that I can't believe is still going. I'm not saying they are bad movies, just more unnecessary. Trejo has a huge cult following and Glover seems to have fallen a long way since Lethal Weapon, but they both fit will together. As far as the movie goes, it's basically the same thing as the other two. Two old guys fighting for what is right and a decent blend of humor and action. Overall, if you liked the first two you will like this one. Generic but somewhat entertaining. I give it a B-.
I have enjoyed watching all three movies a bad ass and it would be Great if there were more movies.
This isn't a typical action movie, it's much more of a comedy movie, so if you're looking for action - go elsewhere. The one liners that get tossed about are funny and yes the acting could use a bit more...but overall enjoyed the movie and definitely did a lot of laughing through it. Glover and Trego never fail to hit the punch line in this movie. I pulled it up on netflix for a 'look-see' if it would be any good or not, and once the show started, it had us watching and laughing throughout. I imagine some of the bad reviews are from people that wanted a serious action film and this one is no where close, it's actually a bit fake in one scene when there's a lot of shooting going on, but again it fits the comedy part of the show.
With the previous two "Bad Ass" movies watched, then of course this one had to be watched as well. The story in "Bad Asses on the Bayou" was adequately entertaining, but it just felt that they should have stopped making these movies after the first one, because parts two and three don't have the same level of energy as the first movie. "Bad Asses on the Bayou" was troubled by an overly predictable storyline. Danny Glover is definitely getting too old for these kind of movies. Danny Trejo carried the movie quite well, and he did make the movie bearable to watch. If you enjoy action movies, then "Bad Asses on the Bayou" is hardly the first of choices to go to. It was an adequate movie for what it turned out to a; a mediocre action movie.
Well depending on how you liked the first two movies, you can expect to feel the same here. It's not that the movie redefines anything, though there is a change of "scenery". That's nice to see, but how often can you fake and fool criminals in one movie? Even at that age and especially if you consider the "bad guys" to be deadly (or at least they attempt to look like it). Still Danny Trejo and Danny Glover, the latter who is not too old for flying on a plane and ... well you'll see where I'm heading with this and what might have been written in there to draw him to sign on this movie. It worked and who wouldn't want that to happen on their flight/ride? Exactly. Back to the movie and the action, which is decent, especially if you consider who is playing the characters. There are nice touches (such as the not running thing, which they would be too old for and was one of the worst bits in Taken 3), but overall this is standard procedure.
I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. The title alone should tell you what to expect: a silly, entertaining flick with plenty of action that also brings belly laugh after belly laugh. Danny Trejo and Danny Glover are chemistry on screen. John Amos and Loni Love square out a very good cast, with Ms. Love nearly stealing the show. If you liked the first two installments of the Badass franchise, you will absolutely love this one. If this is your first encounter with Frank And Bernie and you're expecting something taut and serious, then... well... look at the title again. This is Craig Moss really settling into the franchise and kicking it into high gear. Though billed here at IMDb as an action/crime flick, the franchise is built on a comedic foundation and Bayou delivers. I hope a Badass 4 is in the works, because like the Expendables and Fast and Furious franchises, this must go on. Bayou is appropriately paced, well directed, well acted and side- splittingly funny. Enjoy!
