Bon film !
Great movie. Even my friends are hooked! Love all the action and suspense!!
Kind of wacky science fiction action film that takes us back to the heyday of video stores. You know, those weird straight to vhs films you used to see along the aisle and were probably too young to rent. I loved those. They had cussing, nudity, guns, and musclebound bozos you were grew to love. While this is not perfect by any means it definitely took me back to my preteen days sneaking into the video store hoping they'd rent to me. Hey, I had fun with it.
An outside the box, futuristic film that actually has great ideas for the real world to consider. Wonderful make-up & costumes along with good humor make this film truly enjoyable from start to finish! Open your mind & enjoy the ride!
Crossbreed is the stuff of weekend watching, USA Network/TBS SuperStation legend; those films you'd catch again and again as a kid on cable TV and watch every time. A simple set up leads to an extremely fun and ambitious sci-fi ride showcasing some very impressive world building. There's so much enjoyment to be had with the macho laden comradery among the 5 mercenaries hunting the alien: a sleek creature design made frightening by the mesmerizing, unbreakable gaze of Devanny Pinn who shines in the role. Crossbreed is fast paced cartoonish fun like the sci-fi/action movies of the early 1990s that warrants a sequel or two.
Right, well already from the movie's poster presentation alone, I figured this was going to be one of those pseudo-low budget movies that will not be cheesy enough to be enjoyable, but also not bad enough to be laughable. Sure, this was exactly that. And while writers Brandon Slagle and Robert Thompson did try to come up with something interesting, it just all crashed down when you realize that this is essentially just a cash-in on the 1995 movie "Species", with with minor tweaks, a lesser budget and not as big acting talents on the casting list. Was this enjoyable? Well, no, not really. Unless, perhaps, if you turn out to be a huge sci-fi nerd. I am not, so I didn't really find much enjoyment in this movie, which felt like a strange mash-up on an 1990s action movie and "Species". A combination that might sound interesting in theory, but at the hands of director Brandon Slagle, not so much. The movie brandish Vivica A. Fox and Daniel Baldwin on the cover. They are in the movie, certainly, but as mere supporting performers. So, don't get suckered in by these two performers being on the cast list. The special effects in "Crossbreed" were atrocious, given the fact that this movie is made in 2019. The creature design was abysmal to look at, and it was so painstakingly just a woman with horribly bad make-up and special effects added to her body. It looked like they just plastered on some soggy cardboard at times. I managed to endure the movie to the end. Why? Well, because I wanted to finish it, and a movie has to be really, really bad before I end up turning it off. "Crossbreed" is one of those sci-fi movies that you never heard about and happen to stumble upon by random, questionable luck. Then finding yourself wasting an hour and thirty minutes, give or take, of your life on watching it. I sat through it to the end, but can honestly say that I will never be venturing back to watch it once more.
Not even worth watching the trailer! Baldwin looks really unwell in this and perhaps should retire rather than sink any further!
I'm going out on a limb and giving this 4 stars. The story wasn't terrible, the acting was bad, but that happens a lot with nooby actors. I've seen a lot worse, so I at least appreciate the work everyone did, even if it turned out as poor as this is. There were some decent scenes that keep my interest, but not many. It was just really funny how one guy could sit right in the line of fire, and 5 guys with guns were plastering the wall (and doing NO damage!) right next to him.....(While he cut a few of them down). Or the guy chopping up someone, and NO blood anywhere, even on the machete! hahahah! Aside from that, if you can stomach low budget, silly scifi movies with really poor fight scenes and dumb lines, go for it!
Just fantastic all around, and I really enjoyed the way it was told, the past and present and how it flowed so well.
Amazing acting, amazing directing. Just an overall amazing work of art. The best you'll see.
