awesome
And not only is it the worst of the series, it is even one of the worst movies I have seen in my entire life! Not even 2 was that bad !!! This movie is so bad like the others that I even wonder if it was made that way on purpose !!! Now Mr Wenie has no charm (he was one of the few characters that had some charm left after the first movie), and worst of all is that in addition to the story as always it is still cliche and predictable, with forced humor , now try to allude to nostalgia and put characters from 1 !!! Like Shaw or the Sheriff. And these also lost all their charm!!! Shaw in the previous one for example was super intimidating and very badass, but in this one he was super dumb. The same as with the other characters. Beth is the only one who does not appear (at least not physically), which does not surprise me, since she was the only character in the entire franchise who was 100% kind and serious, that it would not make any sense to pass her through the movie filter like Open Season 2 and 3. Also characters like Ursa or Elliot's children do not appear! Not that I cared much, because they were very bad characters, but it did not have a logical continuity, so I investigated on wikipedia, and indeed, Open Season 4 is a prequel to 2. But there are several problems with this. First, they do not make it clear at any point in the film, second that this decision seems super strange to me and more considering that the history of the last three is terrible, and finally and the one that will take the longest to explain: This makes me doubting the continuity of the entire series, for a simple detail, a detail that the developers forgot and that ruins the whole story. Mr. Wenie in Open Season 4 still wants to be with the owners of him..... WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!! In Open Season 1 and 2 (in the latter until the end of the film), they make it clear that Mr. Wenie does not want to live with his owners anymore, he wants to live the wild life. So if Open Season 4 is a prequel to 2, why does Mr. Wenie still want to be with the owners of him? Now I don't know if this movie is a sequel to 3 or a prequel to 2 !!!! This movie is disgusting wherever you look, it tries to do "many things" and in the end it does not achieve anything. The way it is made, it looks like fanfiction.... OFFICIAL FANFICTION !!! They just want to abuse the nostalgia of the fans !!! The guys who made this movie knew that 1 was the best and they ruined three great characters by trying to appeal to nostalgia in the process!!!! THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES I HAVE SEEN IN MY LIFE !!!! And since I've seen a lot of very bad things lately, THAT IS SAYING A LOT!!!!! Not only is the movie bad, IT IS INSULTING! I FEEL OFFENDED VIEWING HER FOR THE ABUSE OF NOSTALGIA!!!
The original movie's budget was $85,000,000. This movie's budget was about 15.5X less, coming in at $5,500,000. I was surprised honestly, believing it was way more than that since the movie looks close to the original as far as art style and colors. The animation however is more fastpaced, seemingly rushed. The story feels like it was dragged out to fit a timeframe, without much a plot to work with. The characters have been replaced three times. Boog sounds more like Martin Lawrence in this film than the last two, but Elliot sounds way off. Waaayyy off, like a drunk Ashton Kutcher who is obviously trying to make his voice a lot deeper than the original Elliot's. Mr. Weenie's character seems off-kilter, losing his charm and intelligence we saw from the previous films. It feels like he's a different dog, when the last two films, he LOOKED like a different dog. Animators: Stick to one model, please. I guess this takes place after the first installment, since we do not see Boog's new mate or Elliot's kids. The only ones who seem pretty much accurate in this film is the porcupine, the skunks and Ian. Boog is a complete wuss to be the biggest animal in that forest. Seems like a major cashgrab that could've been plotted differently, and stayed true to the original films. Now if Elliot's kids were scared, that would've made lots more sense-considering they are herbivores and young. The fact that we're left to guess they either grew up or was written off of the franchise, assuming this film took place before the 3rd and maybe second film sucks. Usually, we know if a movie is a sequel or a prequel, but the creators gave us no answer for that. There is a huge secret about the budget for the 2nd and 3rd film. They probably shouldn't of released direct-to-DVD sequels and found ONE formable plot for a potential sequel to hit the theaters. The fact that they went straight to DVD is a clear indication that Sony was after a quick cashgrab, rather than the people. It was sad watching this franchise die when it had some potential..
In my opinion having a fourth movie based on one of the biggest franchises from Columbia Pictures wasn't a great idea to begin with i mean it looks even worse than Ice Age Continental Drift which I prefer that movie over this garbage and in my opinion this is the worst movie ever from 2015 along the Fantastic 4 remake and Elliot was flanderized from a funny and silly comic relief into an annoying jerk who constantly torments the poor bear named Boog and this movie has no point or purpose to exist other than make money and i prefer The Peanuts Movie better than this forgettable stain of dirty failure.
While it has its perks, Open Season: Scared Silly is not exactly a great movie. The first problem i have with it is it doesn't seem to align with the rest of the series. In the previous movie, the characters Elliot and Gizelle were previously married and had three children. Another character Ursa was also introduced into the series from the previous movie. Neither Ursa nor the children are found in this movie, and no explanation was given for this. It also seems that Elliot and Gizelle have completely forgotten that they are married, as Gizelle also states "im going to find a nice quiet place to call a mate" right in front of her supposed husband. Two new characters, Ed and Edna are also introduced in this movie. However The character Shaw (who was the villain from the first movie) addresses the two as if they were introduced previous, in which they weren't. The next problem is that the characters seem to have been dumbed down by a large margin, especially the character Elliot, who constantly leads his friends into near death scenarios at every turn. The character has only has two goals in mind the whole movie, being to go on a camping trip with his best friend Booge, and to catch a were wolf to ensure open season is closed again. The characters action result in many misgivings for him and his friends, including a scene where they almost die in a plane crash because of him. I don't understand why the characters had to be dumbed down for the humor however, the original movies did a good job with the humor. The humor almost solely resides in poop jokes now. The humor in this movie is almost strictly for a younger audience, but at the very least the movie like this isn't without its poop jokes. An entire scene from the movie focuses entirely on Elliot "studying poop" in which he consumes it in order to find the where wolf (I now hate the word "poo" thanks to this movie). As usual a movie like this includes other potty humor, but the eating the poop is enough for me anyways. From what i know none of the original actors stayed for the ride, but they at leased replaced them with half decent not well known voice actors who did a pretty decent job, at least up until they scream, in which they do a half donkey job of inside yelling which doesn't really fit the expressions the characters make when they yell. Overall its not a bad movie for kids, but from a more focused perspective this movie is full of filler, and the conclusion is not very satisfying. Although like i said kids seem to like it very much, as my younger brother just watched it for the 40th time. This movie is recommended by me for kids ages 5 and up.
The first open season was a Good animated movie. The rest meh, but this one is really a disappointment. They came back to the first villain, why? Nobody knows. The rest is unnecessary, only made for money I think. For me this part of Open Season is just something like a Halloween special or something.
OKAY.....I HATE THIS MOVIE.....IT WAS THE WORST MOVIE IVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. THERE IS NOTHING BUT DUMB JOKES AWFUL PERSONALITIES AND THE WORST THING, THE WORST THING! IS THAT THEY REMOVED ELVIS, MY FAVORITE CHARACTER FROM OPEN SEASON 3....... SCREW THIS MOVIE.... IT TRAMATIZED ME FOR 2 WEEKS I COULD NOT GET ALL THE IMAGES OF THAT FRICKING CHARACTER DOING, YOU KNOW WHAT ELLIOT DOES.....DAVID FEISS, YOU RUINED MY CHILDHOOD.
