First I am a true fan no connection to anyone attached to the movie!...I enjoyed it! Now let me tell you why.The cinematography was amazing. You felt like you were right there in those locations. The scenes of each location were flawless... Then the music score just blew me away. It was the driving force that keeps you at the edge of your seat.. what a terrific music score great song wow!!! The film had so much creative aspects to it! OK the characters... Paul played by David Wachs a handsome and troubled young man. Goes on a killing spree. Yes we do not know why? Hence a sequel...I can see that happening. His consistent personality through out the movie only shows us how good an actor he is...Jessica Michel the heroine was the innocence that allowed us to see some vulnerability in Paul. She is beautiful and had a genuine caring heart. Not to mention she lit up the screen.Ronnie Alvarez her abusive boyfriend made us hate him...but I adored him at the same time,, call me crazy! The scenes were gory and perhaps repetitive but I go to see a movie to be entertained not to look at every flaw and watch with criticism to the point of disbelieving many fans truly liked the movie such as myself. Frank Visiglia the writer/ director what an amazing concept in the age of Uber and Lyft. Thank you for creating an awareness for all of us...the rest of the cast was so enjoyable to watch...What I loved in the midst of feeling scared in came some comic relief just when you needed it...how ingenious!!! The movie RYDE was tastefully done with so much movement and excitement! My recommendation if you are going out to watch a movie with the intent to tear it apart because that is your focus rather than a fun night out to see thriller and keep it light and simple then this movie is not for you. Creativity, imagination and the hard work that went into this production in my opinion as a true fan I really enjoyed RYDE and hope there is a sequel!!!
I came across this one on a horror site so by reading that it's all about a serial killer I wanted to see it immediately. Now that I have taken the ride i do have something to say about Ryde. Let me start with the good things. The cinematography is excellent especially while the cab is driving throughout downtown LA. The acting was just above mediocre and the flick do contains it all to become a horror, all about a killer in a cab by calling the app Ryde this delivers on nudity (full frontal) and some murders. Sadly, and that's the thing I didn't like, the killings are rather low on gore or red stuff. Okay, I know, heads are being smashed but it's done twice on the same way. And it's always shown so the gore doesn't come in. On the other hand, it shows that this is a low budget flick but it works out fine because with the driving you start to know the passengers. To make it complete there are a few scene's that you just didn't see coming. The ending on the other hand was so predictable that it's easy to guess what is going to happen. Does it fit into the horror genre, well, it's to low on the scary or creepy part to call it a horror but viewers can be offended by the abuse of women, the nudity and the particular smashing of heads. So here we have it, it can be a hard ride for people used to watch thrillers but for horror buffs the ride will be to smoothly. Gore 1/5 Nudity 1,5/5 Effects 2/5 Story 2/5 Comedy 0/5
In a crazy world like we live today, this can happen to anyone, with all the people on medication and mentally unstable. This is the scariest part of the movie is that it can happen for real. A man is generally stronger then a women, there was no super natural in this like Jason Freddy or Micheal Myers who are close to be invincible killers. The main character played is role amazing, and he was very credible selecting is victims. And yes all of them where very annoying and hard to like. I was amazed at the high score for the movie since it falls in the horror category and most horror movies are around a 4 5 rating. This one was very simple, a guy mentally disturbed kills a driver and takes is place to drive people around town, of course lots of them women, proof that men will not get all women even if they look good, he got turned down by a few of them but got some others willing to take more then a ride and the perfect victim for him. In some way this movie reminded me a bit of Maniac in 1980. Not for everyone because the story is basically all that drives around and kills women, but its very well executed.
What an incredible film with such a relevant concept! It was only a matter of time that we saw a film take a thriller spin on the popularity of ride-share apps. Ryde NAILED it! Director Brian Visciglia did a fantastic job with capturing the feeling of really being a part of the "ride." Beautifully shot!! I loved that they were able to shoot in Los Angeles, and it was historical that the film was able to shoot at the 6th street bridge before it got torn down. Lead David Wachs was very impressive!! What a captivating performance! He was very reminiscent of Christian Bale of American Psycho. Not only is he totally handsome and sexy, but he is a multi-talented force - taking on lead actor, film producer, and score. As a actor, he had a very interesting way of coercing the audience to side with him as a villain - very rare to see that. I thought the music for the film was on point. Hats off to David Wachs and Scott Welch! I haven't been moved by a film in a very long time. I am really looking forward to a sequel!
A serial killer in his stolen car, faking his identity as a ride share service driver, kills his passengers one by one. The film ends when his stolen car met with an accident while trying to kill a passenger; the killer escapes from the accident scene and the victim survived. A primitive thriller movie with unfinished ending.
There are better movies of similar genre. Looks like friends and family gave higher ratings. Dooooooon't waste your time. It is just a very dramatic serial killer movie without any suspense. There is nothing like suspense or thriller. Very ordinary movie. I can say "American psycho" is 100 times better than this one.
I'm not one for horror movies but RYDE looked pretty interesting! So glad I decided to go because I loved it...here's why..The cinematography was absolutely beautiful...you felt as though you were right in the midst of every location...it was breath taking! The music score was a driving force through out the entire movie. It was in sync with every scene bringing so much excitement and emotion to the viewer. The character Paul played by David Wachs a troubled young man with a dark side to him. His youthful and handsome look and his chiseled face says you really can't judge a book by it's cover. David Wachs proved what an amazing actor he is by his brilliant performance. Keeping the same temperament through out the the movie. It created more mystery and wanting to know more into the mind of this so angry young man. Lending this for a sequel...yes I hope there is one...I was also reminded a lot of Christian Bale in American Psyco. Jasmine played by Jessica Michel Safarty the heroine was the innocent that allowed us to see some vulnerability in Paul. She is beautiful and yet she kicked ass when attacked by the psycho Paul (David Wachs)great inspiration for women to know there is more to Jasmine then her sweet kind hearted self. Frank Visciglia the writer/ director what an amazing concept in the age of Uber and Lyft. Thank you for bringing a weakness to all of us! The rest of the cast did a great job and we're enjoyable to watch. They helped break the tension with some of their delightful personalities. The movie RYDE is tastefully done with so much excitement you'll be sitting at the edge of your sit..I loved this movie!!!
The film opens with Jasmine (Jessica Serfaty) so we suspect she is the final girl. Her boyfriend Marcus (Ronnie Alvarez) is Joe Pesci obnoxious and we hope he is the first one killed, slow and horribly. The film shifts to a subplot where Paul (David Wachs) is picked up at a bar by a beautiful lady (Valerie Lynn Smith) who takes him back to her place using Ryde, which, like Lyft is the dumbing down of America. Now for the plot spoiler (or not) Paul kills her. He is an unexplained serial killer with no background other than his wife died....and I can't imagine how. So Paul, gets his Ryde to come and kills him so as to tie up loose ends, like he washes off the murder knife and places it back with his bare hands on the handle and he leaves prints all over the house. Why he wore gloves for the next kill I don't know. The film is just Paul driving around, picking up people, selecting a victim (women mostly) and pummel them in the face. I guess if you like to beat women up, this is your film. But plot wise it was too simple. Our protagonist wasn't on the screen that often, leaving us with Paul, who we hardly knew. Now I liked Karl (Kyle Thomas Schmidt). Too bad they didn't team up. Guide: F-word. Nudity (Valerie Lynn Smith, Lindsay Crolius)
If you are looking for a great nighttime horror flick this is a highly recommended movie for you! Unlike many horrors, its script is not filled with cliché jump scenes, but it is a very cleverly written story, beautifully directed by Frank Visciglia. There is a lot of suspense that will keep you at the edge of your seat, and I must mention the music which accompanies the movie perfect. I loved the acting, the young actors did a good job, especially Jessica Serfaty whose portrayal of Jessica was powerful and convincing. Overall I would recommend it to all the horror fans looking for a refreshing movie in the genre.
I saw the trailer of the movie and it looked interesting, so I gave this movie a chance and watched it in a theater. The movie didn't disappoint, it was a joy rYde from start to finish! Its story is original, which I really appreciate as a horror movies fan; it was executed beautifully. The actors were unknown to me, but they did a good job in portraying the characters. Their acting is believable and I hope that David Wachs will start getting bigger roles in Hollywood. There were some decent scares in the movie and overall, it was a great popcorn flick so I left a theater satisfied.
