Sweet Virginia

This movie sure was well worth my time. A decent thriller drama, the villain in this movie did an exemplary performance, certainly award winning. If you like slow burn thrillers that gets into your skin and makes you want to guess the next scene, this is for you.

Most forgettable movie I've seen in some time. Pass up this one and save yourselves!

This was actually a pretty good movie, decent plot and well acted. The movie is essentially about a pathetic woman who instead of leaving her cheating husband decides to have him killed. With little knowledge of his business dealings she believes her husband to be more successful than he was, a miscalculation that left her unable to pay her psychotic hit-man. Rather than face up to her consequences she tells the hit-man about her friend who happens to have the money he needs. The hit-man develops a plan to go and rob her friend which is essentially where things go awry and also where the movie plot ties in. Without giving anything additional away, I will only say again this movie is worth the watch!

I was enjoying this movie until the abrupt, unclimactic, uncreative end. So maddening! My fiance and i sat here for like 5 minutes afterwards coming up with different endings that would have been better...did the writer just give up? Was he bored too? Ugh.

This movie is stocked with great actors and great plot ideas that just never come together. Bernthal is great but even his character is a bit flimsy with a lot of unanswered details about his past looming over the viewer. The action in the film is great and you'll be engaged, but you'll be wishing there was more character development to really pull things together.

This film tells the story of people connected with a motel called Sweet Virginia. The first fifteen minutes are interesting, but the rest is just dull and boring. Nothing much happens after fifteen minutes, the pace is very slow. There is no thrill, suspense, urgency or danger. It is a disappointing film.

One of those movies where the trailer looks so promising but then you are so disappointed when you watch the whole movie. This movie joins in with shows like true detective. All people are so sad all the time. They are all somehow broken inside. This can be interesting with the right story and good execution but that is what's missing here. I actually like when actors don't enunciate everything crystal clear but in this movie the line delivery of the men is just plain mumbling. I also have no problem when there are longer scenes where no one speaks but then I should either see some development in the characters by watching their body language or mimic or what they do. But here you have scenes that seem as if the director had to fill time which seems very odd because the movie is very short in the first place. I like Benthal but that this movie fails to deliver anything is not the fault of the cast but of the choices the director makes.

Watched this late at night,was blown away. Watched it again the following day. Gave it 10. Ricidulously low meta score. I won't bother reading them. Everything is well done in this film. The photos,pace,characters,locations. The writing is naunced ,with little windows being left for each character ,to ask why? Lots of detail. Small town politics. Loss and revenge. The villian is really the one you least expect and sympathy is garnered for the obvious ones. Excuse my spelling. Personal performances where outstanding. No doubt from a great story and script ,but the ,,,I guess casting choices. I only new a couple. I didn't know the killer ,but he is excellent. The sort of performances that make you look them up ,watch past movies and look out for future. I will do. Just writing this after watching. Brings me back to many classics written with those cold mountains as the backdrop. I can think of three straight away. So much atmosphere. Score was so good as to I couldnt say if it had one. Nothing worse than that ott ,,feel this now ,,base obviousness. Only criticism for my ears was a lot of the communication was low key,and I had to turn it up a fair bit. For me this is a common problem. So much to like about Sweet Virginia. Best part is ,,you don't see it coming. Yeah i know i cant spell get over it professor irrelevant. 10/10 and well deserved
