Bon film !

The movie is good

Was really quite intrigued by 'Boar' when it appeared in my recommended for you section, with a creepy poster/cover, a fine premise and as someone with a general appreciation for the genre it fits under. That it was low-budget, which from frequent personal experience is rarely a good sign due to that there are so many poor ones out there (though there are decent to good ones as well), made me though apprehensive. It is sadly however yet another film seen recently, hence some reiteration because the exact same strengths and flaws present in those films are here, that to me was incredibly disappointing considering its potential which it doesn't do anywhere near enough with. 'Boar' is really quite weak, with so many huge flaws and doesn't do anything with any potential it had. There is net to nothing good here in 'Boar', a vast majority of it amateurish. Only good things are a fairly promising start, some lovely scenery and a reasonably atmospheric soundtrack on occasions. That's it for the praise. Going on to the negatives, the story does feel over-stretched and some of it comes over as vague and under-explained in the last third where the film especially became duller, more predictable, more senseless and less unsettled and never gaining momentum. All the characters, with every Aussie stereotype known to man, are too sketchy and with cardboard thin and colourless personalities and with nowhere near enough to make one want to endear to them. Their annoying and illogical decision making and behaviours frustrates. The chemistry is bland and unfocused. The sound quality is obvious and utilised cheaply (being too loud in the build ups and people's reactions), the effects are shoddy and uniformly the acting is lacking severely, that's actually an understatement as the worst of it is horrendous. There is no sense of horror or engagement with the awful predicament they're in, and no connecting with the character, it just reeks of indifference and complete blankness which makes the viewer not care less too. Dialogue can be stilted and rambling, as well as vulgarity-overkill, while the pace and film drags on forever, after a promising start and doesn't ever recover. The ending has no build-up and just ends ridiculously. Found too many of the supposedly shocking moments not surprising or scary and the atmosphere dreary, due to the excessive obviousness, a lot of dumb and vague moments and explanations and the lack of tension and suspense. Thrills are none, thanks to stodginess and excessive over-familiarity, and found myself never invested in the drama, which tended to be indifferently acted, interminably paced and statically directed. A lot of 'Boar' has really dull and going nowhere plot elements and often nonsensical and confusing character motivations, while too many of the things to make you shocked are far from creative or unsettling. It all feels rather tame while the threat completely lacks menace and looks terrible. Nothing freaky or interesting, no development and too derivative, while everything is unimaginative and are more odd than scary, completely failing to show any sense of dread. There is nothing interesting or illuminating with what the film was trying to do and the drama is overwrought with no momentum and a lot of weirdness. The direction is barely there and disorganised. 'Boar' is very amateurish visually, too drearily lit and shows no care in the way it's shot. Summing up, very weak despite starting reasonably well. 3/10 Bethany Cox

A truly abysmal creature feature where nothing of interest really happens with special effects Blue Peter would be ashamed of. How this boar gets around without someone noticing is amusing to say the least. It's actually a Boar-ninja as it just appears out of nowhere and kills people then disappears into the bush. It also has the ability to grow in size for close ups and then return to normal for longer shots. The acting is terrible and the story nonsensical. The characters are so dull I was rooting for the Ninja Boar. It seemed to be veering towards comedy as it certainly was not horror or even a thriller. Two points I will make about how stupid this film is. SPOILERS..... 1 At no point does anyone use their mobile phones to get help. In a day and age where people can't be separated from mobiles for more than 60 seconds even kids seem to forget they have them when faced with a very unrealistic large pig with blood and gore on its snout. 2 Big spoiler here so be warned. After having his guts torn out Bernie....don't call him Bern... is able to recover for the final scene and act as if it was just a scratch. Laughableless rubbish. The most horrific thing about this pile of sewage is there may be Boar 2.

This is a great beastie horror movie.It was fun and i enjoyed it a lot.I wasnt expecting much.id looked at the mixed reviews and the trailor..they should make another trailor to it as it was much better than portrayed. I saw Charlie's Farm and it was okjay but I didnt get drawn into the movie so i sort of lost interest. I live in the bush a lot like the one in the movie. and maybe i had the right atmosphere for the film.i use to chase carnivores away from my animals.. go out in the dark with a dolphin torch..ha.so yeah..i would like to say that the aussie accents arent overdone or forced at all. people in the bush still talk like that.i liked seeing john jarrat as a hero instead of a villian.He probably enjoyed it too.Im not saying much about the storyline as its explained on here anyway.It is a horror movie so some people will get uppity and not like it.Make up your own mind and see it..its worth a look..i enjoyed this more than razorback..but razorback is still a classic. its not like razorback much at all.

I can't believe the actors in this movie agreed to star in this utter crap . There is one line in this movie that was true "we are in the middle of a drought"and the money used for this should of gone to the farmers

If you enjoyed JAWS Classic 1975 Cult movie then you will love this! As both movies had small budgets but big visions and delivered on a quick run down badass animals lane., JAWS becoming Considered one of the greatest films ever made, That's a big boast on Boars behalf but given the budgets of big horror movies these days and the constant barrage of spooky flix , this is a great change of pace. Beast of an animal eating everything in sight. This time on land and in Oz, If the sharks don't get you the Boars will!! The gore is at best just that but the trip through Qld Australia (Where everything is trying to kill you and the locals are larger than life) was perfect. The action was flowing and the movie was a fast 1.30 minutes with some colourful Aussie language. And like JAWS turned you off going swimming at the beach ,this will make you think twice about outback camping in Australia!

Being a massive fan of Razorback and other pig movies (and creature features in general) I was very excited to finally get the opportunity to have a look at Boar. The director, Chris Sun's other efforts include the nasty Daddy's Little Girl and the Slasher Charlies Farm. While they were interesting, they had some glaring problems that prevented them from being very good movies, but each movie this director makes, is a massive step in the right direction. So, going into Boar i was expecting a fun time and that is exactly what I got! In fact, I will say its better than I expected. From the great banter amongst iconic Australian actors, to the fantastic looking giant Boar, this is what you want from this type of movie. Add to that the nastiness in the gore (which you exepct from this director) Boar is a great way to spend 90 minutes if you go into it expecting a fun time!

One person said it was unreal that the giant boar got up after losing its guts. It did not get back up. It showed that there was more than one huge boar. The special effects are not great, but not that bad either. The acting was ok and it was fun listening to their Australian accents. The story is pretty good and they do a really good job of character building which most movies don't even bother with these days. Some characters you actually get to liking and caring about their well being. It's basically a good B flick. Not great, but not bad.

Yes it had to happen. The Xmas ham has finally returned for revenge, Aussie style. This is an utterly ridiculous horror film about the prince of porkers who has a voracious appetite for outback Australians and the occasional American. I know the premise sounds awful on paper but its executed with such tongue in cheek good humour with an overstated ribald, ocker vibe, that it actually works.If you have lived in Australia as I have you will know this is overdone in a big way. The "boar-ish" humour is a yard wide and ten feet deep but it plays well in the general context of this film. As a horror film there is the predictable blood and gore factor but its not gratuitous or sadistic and this film plays better for it. Its more a little on the silly side as are the giant pig special effects. If you want to have a good laugh with your mates over a few beers and chips or maybe some pork rinds, this is one to watch. 7/10 from me.
