At the beginning of “Cross-Tie Walker” you can see the backs of Don Sanuskar and Frank Vanderpuil (in the sport coat) dancing with Karen Sudlow and Robbin Miller respectively, with Roni Menacker to our left and also seen at 0:14. Although Solomon Burke’s 1969 cover of “Proud Mary” wasn’t nearly as popular as CCR’s, it may have been on Dick Clark‘s mind as Solomon sang it on Bandstand just 4 months ago back on May 24th. “Proud Mary” is one of the 5 CCR songs that peaked at #2 (they never had a #1 song on Billboard), doing so back in March. “Cross-Tie Walker” is one of the tracks on CCR’s new album “Green River”. The album also features the songs “Green River”, “Lodi”, “Commotion” and “Bad Moon Rising”. My favorite CCR song is “Looking Out My Backdoor”.
