It follows the story of Indie Games Are Beating AAA in 2026 (Slay the Spire 2 vs Marathon) — What It Means for Gaming The script argues that the 2025-to-2026 gaming trend is indie titles outperforming big-budget AAA releases in player attention, especially on Steam, highlighting comparisons like Slay the Spire 2 allegedly peaking above 248,000 and later over 508,000 players while Sony/Bungie’s Marathon peaks around 88,000 and levels off. It cites other examples such as Schedule One outdrawing Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Silksong reaching about 587,000 players, with AAA developers like Hell is Us complaining that cheaper, more “authentic” indie games steal momentum. The narrator claims corporate-led AAA development increasingly misunderstands core gamers, while indies—helped by new tools like AI and even ex-AAA devs (e.g., Clair Obscur’s former Ubisoft developers)—are driving a changing of the guard as major studios lose ground and get sold off. 00:00 Indies vs AAA Shift 01:16 Steam Charts Shock 02:00 Marathon Comparison 02:44 Schedule One Surprise 03:39 Silksong Price Power 04:36 Authenticity Gap 05:58 Who Is The Audience 06:24 Clair Obscur Breakout 07:58 Studios Losing Ground 09:06 New Golden Age Hope 09:44 Wrap Up.
