Maya and Her Lover

Good movie!

I saw this movie preview on Instagram, I'm which it looked interesting so I decided to watch. I wanted to really like this movie, but I really couldn't Get where it was going. I give it a 4 out of 10 as they were decent actors and wasn't cheesy production.

As I sat down to watch the 2021 movie "Maya and Her Lover", I have to admit that I hadn't even heard about the movie the beforehand. But the synopsis for the movie sounded interesting enough, and since this was a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to sit down and watch it. Now, while I did manage to sit through the entire movie, I can honestly say that I was only mildly entertained. Yeah, see, "Maya and Her Lover" wasn't really as interesting as the synopsis made it out to be. It was the narrative of the story that was just too slow and didn't really have enough interesting aspects to it, so that made it feel like a rather mundane and slow paced movie. It should be said, though, that the acting performances in the movie were good. I wasn't familiar with a single performer on the cast list, but lead actress Ashanti J'Aria (playing Maya) definitely carried the movie quite well with her performance. Just a shame that the storyline was a hindrance holding her back. If you enjoy romantic dramas, then there are far better choices readily available out there with more entertainment value to them than what "Maya and Her Lover" had. Writer and director Nicole Sylvester didn't really deliver a movie with much of any punch or impact here. And I do believe that come tomorrow, then the movie will already have faded from my memory. My rating of "Maya and Her Lover" lands on a less than mediocre four out of ten stars.
