A critic's poll in 2020 by The Guardian selected "West End Girls" as number one of the 100 greatest UK number one singles. Pet Shop Boys are an English synth-pop duo consisting of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, formed in London in 1981. Pet Shop Boys have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and were listed as the most successful duo in UK music history in the 1999 edition of The Guinness Book of Records.
