Following the likes of WWF War Zone and WWF Attitude, the game gave wrestling fans a brand new way to play WWF matches on console and thanks to new developer Yukes working on the game, WWF Smackdown on PS1 was very different to past PS1 WWF games. While not exactly similar, WWF Smackdown took inspiration from the previous AKI games by greatly simplifying the controls. War Zone and Atittude forced players to use button combinations in order to pull off basic moves. In Smackdown, everything was made way more accessible and easy with a much more approachable control scheme; anyone could pick up Smackdown and master the game. Feedback was very positive, and so began a long lasting relationship between Yukes and the WWF that brought us the Smackdown series of games (including Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth and Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain). The succesful run of Smackdown games can all be traced back to Smackdown 1 on PS1. This is a Wrestling series and has received a rating of 0/10 from 0 viewers.
