Eric Bischoff's nWo storyline had brought new viewers to WCW Nitro, and the executives at TBS felt that another show could easily copy the success of Bischoff's Monday Night wrestling show on TNT. Bischoff, however, wasn't prepared to start another show. The initial idea for the new "WCW Thunder" program on TNT was to create a traditional WCW show with WCW only wrestlers. WCW Nitro, meanwhile, would completely change to a nWo exclusive broadcast. The Monday Night wrestling show on TNT would get rebranded as "nWo Monday Nitro" and the New World Order would specifically go head to head with the WWF and Monday Night Raw. Bischoff felt that this was the best way to create two shows, have one show for WCW (Thunder) and the other for the ever expanding nWo. In order to test nWo Nitro, 2 hours of a traditional WCW Nitro broadcast were handed over to the New World Order. This video looks at those 2 hours.
