A Green Fever This thriller follows the journey of Kunmi Braithwaite, an architect, and his daughter, Ireti, who is struck by green fever. While in search of help, they end up in the house of a strict Colonel and become trapped. As the story unfolds, secrets are revealed, unveiling the true nature of the characters. The first thing to note is that A Green Fever is a beautiful film to watch. This visual beauty faithfully captures the era it portrays through meticulous attention to detail in setting and location. The camera work is stunning and fitting as it follows the characters. There is also a sense of intimacy that's pivotal in this movie. These elements are further elevated by a perfectly suited score. Storytelling here is done well. Firstly, the story is fresh and engaging. The story begins with a frenzied introduction, before slowing down and gradually building momentum again. As we watch the characters, we're anxious to see where it all ends but still delighted to follow through the movie's guide. The climax, while both brilliant and flawed, pushes the boundaries of the story, leaving us stunned by its revelations. Although the final moments may feel hurried, the overall experience is undeniably rewarding. Temilolu Fosudo and William Benson are interesting leads. Fosudo as a protagonist is effectively counterbalanced by Benson's portrayal of villainy. As the men try to outwit one another, we're glued to our seats. Amidst the flood of unoriginal, recycled stories saturating Nollywood, "A Green Fever" emerges as a refreshing and distinct standout. 7.5/10.
A Green Fever is a far cry from Taiwo Egunjobi's "All Na Vibes". And it was very hard to digest that the movie was produced by the "God Calling" filmmakers... The great aspect about A Green Fever was the color grading which nicely accentuated the set design and characters. Aside from that, the film had no climax or character development. Continuity and logic suffered, acting was shallow, and the overall screenplay lacked suspense and thrill. Moreover, the camera operator cut actors' faces in the framesπ’ For 1h23m, the dialogues were plain, not moving the story forward, so much that it became challenging to stay focused. It is quite heartbreaking because this story could have been sizzling and meaningful by empowering all characters, giving them different dimensions, but alas...π«
Honestly. I have never seen any movie from Nigeria yet, or maybe a long time ago,, on netflix, but it was ankward, lousy shot "with the feet". Here it is different, the directing, writing, acting are far above. It is not a masterpiece, but very interesting. I doubt this film will be released in France, movie theaters or even DVD nor streaming platforms. Such a shame because this solid little thriller tells much how it goes in this country, rotten by violence and corruption. It is taut, gritty, with a weird unexplained ending. I would have prefered something more convincing, clearer, better explained. But it's worth the try for me. Don't keep away from it because it is from Nigeria.
It's really difficult to write as many characters as I must to review this here movie called a green fever because it's a movie where nothing is happening that is to say the story is nonsensical the actors seem very amateurish as does the script the orange Volkswagen in the beginning is cool but there is no character development and the weird music to add tension keeps going on and on it's as if this movie is a spoof of something maybe people in Lagos can understand some meaning which brings me to another point some of the actors lines are garbled as in I can't understand them their accent is thick oh well keep trying and write a better story next time one that is interesting anyway sorry to poo poo your movie I couldn't finish it tootaloo.
