I used to read the book "Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day." The book was very funny and now the movie was funny too. This was one of the best Disney comedy films because the story was funny, the actors did an outstanding job, and the ending was great. Sometimes, we all have bad days, but just as it said in the book, "Some days are like that, even in Australia." We should always know that just because we have a bad day doesn't mean that we should give up. Everyone must try don't stop and think about the positives instead of the negatives and try to do something to cheer them up. This is a great movie and you will enjoy it too.

One of the books we probably remember most from our childhood is Alexander And The Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day. I never owned a copy of it, but I remember that book being read to me a few times when I was in Elementary School. I even remember teachers asking us a couple of times of what Alexander could do to get over his bad day? I mean looking at the book and the way we remember it, and seeing the reviews online it seems like a lot of people like the book. However I did see some negative reviews online about the book. Because basically, the whole book from start to finish talk about how bad Alexander's day is going and it seems like the only redemptive quality of the book is when Alexander's mom says, "Everybody has bad days, even in Australia." Some people think of Alexander as being a pessimist and a sourpuss and in most of the pictures we see in the book, he is looking upset. Over 40 years later the book gets adapted into a movie. They often times make film adaptations of books we might remember as a kid, or some kind of games including video games. Often times but not always, those adaptations don't do well as movies. A lot of us probably thought that this movie was just another adaptation of a book we liked when we were kids and would fall under the terrible film category and flop in the cinemas. I saw comments for the trailer on YouTube. Most of the comments were about how they thought you could see the whole movie through the trailer, not wanting a movie being made from one of their favorite books, and also how the movie looked cheesy. I'll tell you, if you do see the trailer on YouTube it will make the movie look cheesy. However, I saw reviews online about this movie and the reviews I saw were positive about how the movie is better than the trailer makes the movie look. I saw the movie on Saturday, and I loved it. I can write about what makes this movie good? Well, for one the movie doesn't seem like you're watching a live action version of the book. The movie seems completely different like it's it's own film. Alexander does not seem like a pessimist in this movie as he might seem like in the book, it's not like we always see images of him looking unhappy like he did in the book. This movie is also pretty funny, and will get you laughing at some scenes so a good comedy. We get to see the performances of Jennifer Garner and Steve Carrell, they did great in the movie as the parents. What also is great about this movie, is there are more morals to the story than the book leaves us with. It shows a family having a bad day which might remind us of when things are rushed at our house and not going well. It tells us to accept bad days to appreciate the good ones and how you can get over the worst days you might have. It also leaves us with the important message of family. So, I'd recommend this movie. If you liked movies like Diary of A Wimpy Kid which was also an adaptation from a kids book that did pretty well, then you should like this. I loved it, and I left the movie theater feeling really good as it isn't just an entertaining movie to watch, but one you'll feel so happy at the end. I give it a 10/10.

In a world that has long gotten way too cynical and lurid for my taste, finally there is a movie I can see with my husband and children and walk out feeling GOOD about having spent my money on it. Rarely is a movie truly family friendly unless it's done by Pixar or the like these days, but THIS one is an absolute hit! It started a teeny bit slowly, but once it took off it soared. I laughed out loud several times (a rarity) and my kids and husband were equally entranced. This is a great movie and I am thrilled that someone took a chance at producing a movie without profanity, nudity or crassness. You have to be a REAL rebel to attempt producing an actual CLEAN MOVIE!!!!!!!!!! A big 'thanks' from our family and I have promoted it to everyone I can.

What a hilarious adventure! Something I like about this film is that although it's a comedy, at the same time, the directors have created a story so it doesn't feel as if it's just one big joke. In my estimation, it is just perfect. This film has a bubble of unique comedy that sends the audience laughing out loud. And, it has a sprinkle of romance packaged with it which makes it a unique story. The story starts out showing an eleven-(soon to be twelve)-year-old kid who always has bad days while everyone else in his entire family always has perfect days. On the very early morning of his 12th birthday he wishes that his family members would have a bad day. Well they do! And, phew, is it bad! This film has comedy that isn't just little jokes or things that are commonly seen in lots of normal comedies but, unique and creative comedy that is really funny. The actors are all well suited to their roles and, something I love about this film is that the ending is not easily predictable. Also, the story is created in such a way that the comedy is just a part of the story. The creators managed to get a very important message through to the audience. My favorite scene is when the sister is under the weather with a common cold but has a play that day. She decides to drink a whole bunch of cough medicine and gets drunk during the play. This part is absolutely hilarious. The entire audience, including me, could not stop laughing during this scene. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a young kid film but not too young. I would recommend for ages 9 to 18 and I give it 5 out of 5 stars for a great story, fantastic acting and unbelievable comedy! Reviewed by KIDS FIRST! Film Critic Gerry O.

Just saw it. Its a perfect movie for a family. Jokes for the kids and adults. Steve Carell carries the humor with the rest of the supporting family imputing their own characters sense of humor. Very short movie but well worth seeing..This movie is for families..People criticizing this movie either don't have kids or understand the genre of a family movie. Of course you could analyze this movie to its core, but as long as the kids laugh and the adults get their share of humor, I feel then its worth seeing.. ( I just saw it with my two cousins both 23 years old and my sister who is 10..we were all laughing). The whole audience appeared to be kids ranging from 8-15ish..Along with older siblings like myself and parents. We'll seemed to enjoy it.

My 6 year old daughter and I really loved the movie. It is a great family movie with lots of funny scenes and characters that we all can relate to. Would recommend everyone go to see it!!! All the characters in the movie did a great job of showing what it is really like being in a busy family. Alexander was a character that I am sure so many kids either know or feel like at times. What transpires throughout the show is crazy but believable. I think we all have had those days that everything seems to go wrong. But in the end, the movie ends up on a very happy note and really made me want to watch it again. Excellent movie!
