This was a pretty good movie. It reminded me of a book I read when I was younger called The Nantucket Summer by Phyllis Green. Wondering if it was based at all on that book?
This was such a fantastic movie. I have been to Nantucket several times and love the history. This film made you feel like you are in Nantucket. The storyline keeps you interested, and it is unknown of what is next. The acting, filming and special effects helped to bring the movie to life and made you feel like you were part of the emotions and excitement. Bailee Madison is an excellent and perfect actress for this role. Overall, the actors with their individual roles helped to bring the magic alive. I highly recommend this film for families, children, and teens. There is so much magic to life and often legends can make it seem like they can come true. Great movie!
I knew from the first five seconds of this movie that it was going to be... questionable... First of all, billy. He was mildly terrifying and not just because he was a ghost he asked a girl to walk her back to her bike and said he would walk her home if he didn't have somewhere else to be and also Bailey Madison's acting was something..... She was way too over-the-top and could've been way more subtle also I don't know who designed her costume but I really never seen a 16 year old wear a side pony. The bad guys were very dumb just painfully dumb you wanted to slap them. Don't waste your time watching this movie.
Very youthful child, he could have focused or more on comedy, or do something more frightening, he was in limbo between the child-teenager and boring ... There was a lack of a more pleasant script, more captivating characters, despite the touch of mystery and romance, no saved the movie...
I don't understand that Billy goes with the other kids to Silas' house to find out about the Lady in White, then tells them the whole story a day later after they find the hidden bookcase. I know it's a kids movie, but sad that it was so illogical.
I thought the setting on Nantucket was very picturesque the story is about a vacationing girl who's there for the summer, I thought the leading actresses was good most of the male actors where quite weak and the burglars where particularly poor and the movie would have been better if their part were cut out completely.
Randomly watched this on Netflix and was surprised by how much I ended up loving it. Some of the plot was rather simple to figure out if you watch a lot of mysteries, but it was still a sweet story. I will definitely watch this again and again, and I cannot wait for a sequel.
I love Ghost stories and while this one could use a little more explaining when it came to following clues, it was a good premise. The two star was for Bailee Madison's acting. Awful. She acted as if she was in a romance film, she was "breathy" (all you could hear was her breathing). She gave these longing looks, her touches, her stares, stances and gestures were just too much for a sixteen year old, and too over the top for the movie and actors of today. It was like1940s kind of overacting. Corny! If I could give minus stars for her acting I would. The other actors were good, a Ted their age and station.
When I sat down to watch "Annabelle Hooper and the Ghosts of Nantucket" I knew very well that it was going to be a movie that was intended for a much younger audience. But still, I gave it a go, because I had nothing better to do at the time, and I do love watching all kinds of movies. And right indeed, this movie is definitely aimed at a young, possibly early teenage years, audience. And as such, then most of the movie was just lost on me, because I didn't really relate to it, and quite frankly found what was going on less than interesting most of the time. I am sure that "Annabelle Hooper and the Ghosts of Nantucket" does appeal to the age group for which it is intended and aimed at. But for a more mature audience, then this turned out to be a rather mundane and sort of boring movie. And I had initially expected some supernatural things to be going on, given the title of the movie, however that was not really the case. The movie does have some good enough acting performances, but of course, the style of acting and the dialogue is of course aimed specifically at a younger audience. My rating of the movie is a less than mediocre 4 out of 10 stars, as a teenage mystery movie was quite a swing and a miss for my particular taste and preference.
