I really liked it and this could have been a box office hit ... or at least a indie movie one. Movie Channel is showing it this month. Not mentioning any spoilers but the ending is sad and but almost expected. Great acting by cast and Britt Robertson/Christian Slater. I'm very picky with OVERRATED movies/TV, so try to trust me when I say this movie is a keeper. Okay, so have to add more lines (JESUS) ... young woman played by BR ends up having issues with many relationships / promiscuous to several men who are typically older than her and / or married. She struggles through life and realizes or may have realized some of these issues may have come from past sexual abuse. She is remanded to seek therapy by her mom but she's in denial about her issues on and off and ends up doing something that jeopardizes her safety. Refer to the ending. Cheers.

I read "Undiscovered Gyrl," the novel on which this movie is based, less than a week after purchasing it in September 2014. It was one of those books I struggled to put down. I read it on the bus, at the table while eating breakfast, and once even while walking home from a friend's house, and I had to remember to look up when I was crossing the street. Yeah, it was that good. Like any good product of the 90s, the first thing I did after finishing the book was Googling it to see if there were any plans to have it made into a movie. I saw that there were--and have checked compulsively every two months or so since then to see if it was available for streaming--again, like any good product of the 90s. And finally, today it was--and I didn't like it. I've rambled on long enough so I'll just sum this up by saying that the movie was disjointed, sappy, and either glossed over or entirely left out several pivotal moments in the book. If I hadn't read the book previously, I would have been very confused by the flow of the movie. I don't recommend it. The book is great though, you guys should give that a shot instead.

It seems most have expressed being upset with the ending as it may lead us to ask "What's the point?" or simple frustration with it all. To me, no. The movie was beautiful. There are scenes that I loved the way it was framed. I found myself enjoying the filming and the way it came across. What now feels even more real after watching. The style was on point with the story and its ending. The characters gave life advice that I felt was great and added to the fact that they helped impact the main character to decide what to do with life. I'll keep this short but I will lovingly recommend this movie to friends and movie fans alike. I think most will miss this movie but they're only missing out on what seems to be an empty, carefree movie that turns out to be something much more. I watched on a limb due to someone's recommendation and thoroughly happy I clicked and watched.
