Good movie!

OK, yes it's a basic plot, but it's done very well, I think the story and acting are better than most big budget horror films. If you can sit through a Resident Evil movie and not complain you should be blown away by something like this. I happen to love creepy hospital movies, I don't know why. This sets a good mood, the right amount of mystery and creepiness. The characters aren't Dostoyevskian but were interesting and layered enough for a horror movie, the revelations come at the right times and are sufficiently hard to predict. The only negative is that the monsters look like leftover alien costumes from a 50s Sci fi movie.

The idea is muddled and the dialog is frequently too clever... Also, all of the characters have secrets which are to be revealed at the most dramatic moments--frequently by the characters spending a lot of time talking when the situation is desperate and seconds are supposed to be critical. Furthermore the monsters are not terribly convincing and are shown enough that they lose any sense of uncanny menace that might have been there when they are first glimpsed. Do not expect the story to make sense on any level and you might be able to enjoy the film anyway as it is technically decent and the actors are not bad.

I must say that I saw this 2016 movie's cover and that definitely caught my attention. And the movie's synopsis founded fairly interesting enough, so of course I found the time to sit down to watch "Blood Hunters" (aka "One Drop") from writer Corey Brown and director Tricia Lee. But this wasn't an overly impressive horror movie, not even by a longshot. Perhaps I am just too seasoned in terms of horror movies, but I found "Blood Hunters" to be rather mundane, slow paced and somewhat bland. It was a combination of a storyline that was rather devoid of interesting events and an equally pointless character gallery that ultimately sank the movie for me. I mean, I didn't really buy into the storyline and found it difficult to actually take it seriously. And little did it help that the characters were about as interesting as faceless mannequins with no personalities or character traits. The acting in the movie was fair enough, especially when taking into consideration that the actors and actresses virtually had nothing to work with here. It was nice, though, to see Julian Richings in the movie. Sure, if you are a newcomer to the horror genre, then I suppose that there will be some enjoyment and entertainment to be found in the 2016 movie "Blood Hunters". But if you have seen a fair share of horror movies, then you might just want to skip on this particular movie. The creature effects in the movie were rather lame. It was painstakingly obvious that it was just guys running around in pretty badly made rubber suits. Sure, the concept of the creatures were interesting enough, but the props just killed it - and not in a good way. The creatures were such a disappointment, especially after having seen that interesting-looking one of the movie's cover. "Blood Hunters" is not a movie that I would recommend that you waste your time, money or effort on. My rating of director Tricia Lee's 2016 movie lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

I was expecting a low budget, zero suspense, rubber monster and horrorless horror. I was not disappointed. The storyline however, was pretty decent even though it was quite basic. The acting was OK and the general environment was dark enough to be atmospheric for the most part. I wouldn't browse my dvd collection, find this and choose to watch it again (if I had it on DVD which I don't) but It was worth streaming as part of a streaming package and watching the once.

Liked the filming and performances. Even thought the creatures were decent (not great at all). But that story. Oh that writer got lazy. Don't know why a woman who is desperate to get back to her son would not be focused 100% on the priest with the card that can close the gate, as he's clearly gone mad. KNOWING the priest left the techy woman for death (which that got completely swept under the rug), HE should have been the focus. Not sure WHY they'd let an elderly dude do all that he did and let him walk past them after all said and done. They pleaded with the priest to not turn off the boiler instead of using the flashlight to go to him and give him a shove and let the monsters have dinner (by this point, she knows she has the power to kill the creatures). I don't believe the mother is truly fighting to see her son again, cause no one with such high stakes would just plead instead of taking action. If not her, then the man she was with. Characters are useless when they shouldn't be. Tech girl doesn't even know how to close the gate/lock it up behind her after turning the power back on. Like, really? They've established that these creatures cannot die but have the idea to set explosives. So does the drug do it only or explosives too?? Yes, there are the details like the underground facility not entirely being underground, but what kills this movie is the lazy story.

Good movie to watch for especially the creatures formations and nice horror scenes makes this movie one of the best.

A surpringly good horror movie, it's a bit sad to see others hate on it so much. The creature designs could have been executed better but the other effects are actually really affective.

واجع العين خطاهم22/11/22 14:05

Just terrible. Once you see a 6'5" 260 lbs man let a 5'9" 100lbs wet man cut a wire, you'll realize it's too late and your more than 1 hour in. (Ask me) Script? Horrible. Plot? Horrible. Monster costume? Horrible (just like the aliens from the TV show Land of the Lost) Acting? Horrible, the only one who did a great job was Henry. The mother sound like she was having a * just by breathing instead of sounding scared.

Yassi Pressman22/11/22 14:05

This movie made no sense. None. zero. zip. People with no reason to be around are around; monsters that supposedly hunt for blood yet let pools of blood lie around un-lapped in a hospital. Oh, did I say hospital? I mean animal-testing center. At one point a woman in the building said it was an underground facility. Yet, there's the sun, shining bright in all its glory in an open doorway. As of course, everyone is trying their best to get out of this crazed facility, but when the priest (?) opens up the outside gate no one leaves. As a matter of fact, a man and woman do, then change their mind and GO BACK IN to face more carnage. Why a priest is needed in an animal research facility is beyond me. Maybe they think their monsters need salvation. Hell, they even built a chapel for the priest. The woman who is so clever than she can wirelessly turn on the facility's lights from the chapel is unable to unlock the exit doors? And then there are the monsters themselves - nothing but ridiculous white rubber costumes with people in them simply walking around on all fours. Blood Hunters is an INSULT to movie making. Why did I sit through the full 90 minutes? My friend cooked me a good dinner and I was starving; the least I could do is show my appreciation by sitting through this ridiculous flick. What a waste of time.
