The son of a hangman gets into a gunfight with the men who killed his dad. After the son is arrested and brought up on charges for shooting a man dead, he's sent to the gallows where his fate is in the hands of another hangman. Man, does this astoundingly awful schlockfest strike out in every possible way: We've got hopelessly all-thumbs (mis)direction, rank amateur acting from a lame no-name cast, a meandering story that unfolds at a plodding pace, and several ineptly staged gunfights, with a church massacre and a graveyard shootout rating as unintentionally hilarious highlights. A total clunker.
Possibly the worst script/film/acting ever. I cannot believe it made it past the editing stage. Absolutely amateur in every respect
We bought this movie because the cover of it looked like it would be awesome but we soon realized it looked like it was shot on a flip phone and the actors were gathered from the local Walmart. I could not stop laughing at how terrible the acting and props were, I'm rewatching it now that it's free just for a good laugh.
The film starts out in October of 1867 in Monument Texas. The town hung one of the Boardman brothers who want revenge. Through a series of events, young Eli, kills one of the brothers and goes to prison for 20 years. He returns to town and sees that nothing has changed and the Boardman brothers are still there. The town was all Irish. The preacher was a woman and the town Native American was African American. And what was that dance he did prior to the hanging? The acting and dialogue were solid. Like cement solid tossed off a bridge. Do heads pop off from a hanging? Oh, one more thing...the audio quality sucked. Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity. Soundtrack in search of a film.
Very amateurish. It is the cure for insomnia: Impossible to watch until the end without sleep. Everything is bad in this movie. Direction, acting and content. Everything is bad. Why 6/10 stars? Its a joke?
Horrible Makes the Hallmark movies look like Oscar material. The actors read their lines like the just awoke from hibernation. The plot was bad, but not awful. The cinematography was the best part of the film. The robbing of the gold at the train station scene was pathetic. There was a doorbell on a house twenty tears before electricity. You've been warned.
I previously thought the "Straight Story" was the worst movie I'd ever seen but this one is worse. This acting is beyond terrible. I have seen far better acting in 3rd grade class plays. The dialog is just about as awful. It's so awful it captures you and sucks you in as you wait to see how much worse it can get. Do not waste your time or money on this thing.
Onlyest good thing about this western movie was the daggum intro song 'Cheat the Hangman'. Bad acting, bad letterbox format, bad audio, etc. The movie included mundane church and courtroom scenes, so grab a pillow.
This honestly was more like middle school students working on a project because this "movie" was not done by professionals. The acting was almost laughable at times because they were reading their lines. No emotion through the entire movie. Sound was horrible as well. I think the actual story could be made into a pretty good movie if professional movie makers did it. I really don't know how this came to be a rentable and streamable movie. I guess it doesn't take much, I think I could have done better and I don't know the first thing about making movies. Don't waste your time on this one.
So.. my honest opinion is this movie is definitely "amateur hour" at its best. But I think that is what makes this movie so good.. Sure the acting was sub par. The audio was probably done with an iPhone. Video may have been also for that matter. Sound had echo and far away effects. The scenes were "interesting". And anybody who watches this needs to tell me.. was it me or did no-one show ANY emotion at all throughout the whole movie? Expressions did not match the event. Actions made no sense to the scene. There were plenty of times where I could have swore it was not scripted.. Lots of add lib going on, or mad libs to be honest. Not to spoil here but if someone dies or is in a gun fight, you would think there would be some expression to at least show the level of stress that bugs bunny had when he was shot in a gunfight. BEST SCENE in movie.. "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!" - No that is not in the movie but when you see the scene in the church you will agree with me... After 10 minutes I could not stop watching. I was at first taken a back on how such a cool looking cover and story line could be this movie. Then I was just looking out for what an amateur movie reviewer with absolutely no place in judging a movie would do. Pick out and laugh at the many scenes where I wondered why they did what they did. Why, why, why!? So, my recommendation is you make some popcorn. Maybe have a drink, and surround yourself with people that have a sense of humor that will feed off of you as you make joke after joke on how good this movie is because it is sooooo bad. Some good director needs to remake this movie, has lot's of potential... Watch the train wreck and enjoy...
