Ok - where to start. This film is by no means perfect and it absolutely isn't a ten star review. However, I wanted the average for this film to be higher than what it is. You need to know going in to this film that it's not a fantasy film like the Peter Pan films or Alice In wonderland films we have seen before. It's about family, love, grief and how grief is seen and processed through the eyes of children. Part of that process is imagination which leads us on to the Peter Pan and Alice elements. The film is well acted, Jolie does a superb Job as do the two lead children actors. The ending was very touching and heartwarming. I loved the nod of how tinkerbell came to actually become Peters sidekick and guardian. Absolutely worth a watch - but this isn't a children's fantasy film.
I don't know why all the bad reviews, I loved this movie, I understood it fully. I loved all the little nods to both Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. I loved the imagination of the children during the difficult times. I thought the acting was great, especially the children.
Quite a depressing tale of the two famous fairytales. At first I thought the imagining stuff was just the kids imaginations, but the movie totally lost me at the last part when Peter goes away and battle his uncle AKA Captain Hook and takes his loot. Then we see the father's workroom full of gold coins as Alice says something along the line that Peter always leave something after his adventures. The movie blends fantasy and realism, at the end I am no wiser to what really happened. Did he actually become Peter Pan for real. And if so what about the uncle? Oh boy I wouldn't dare to imagine the payback his uncle must do to his family if all the fantasy stuff is real. I guess he really became Peter Pan because Alice children were gone at the end. Not sure though:D
I think a lot of people are just getting lost with this one. When I saw the trailer, I assumed it was about children escaping harsh realities through fantasy and I assumed mostly right. I agree that the movie didn't really know what audience it was going for though. I think if they had fully targeted adults and dove deeper into the dark and psychology of it, it could've been better but they still did well. I enjoyed looking through the kids' eyes, the fantasy mixed with dark, e.t.c., and I especially liked the ending. It could've been so much better but it's not bad either.
I adore a good fantasy movie. This was a beautiful, magical treasure of a film. David and Angelina were superb. The young actors did such a wonderful job as Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. I don't get the negative ratings at all. It was a wonderful movie with great acting and a splendid cast of fine actors.
