This is one of the best movies we have seen in years! It was so beautifully filmed and kept us on the edge of our seat the entire film! Ron Kaell did a great job as Pete! The writing and directing superb! Kudos to all involved in this movie! Fabulous!
The main character Harold was CRAAZZZY! Who mistreated him as a child? Lol. I am typically very A.D.D. when watching a movie at home, up and down the throughout a movie. Not with this movie. It had me engaged from the very beginning, sitting intently waiting to see what happens next. I enjoy a good Inde film with great actors who draw me in and make me forget they are actors. In fact I prefer films like this. I also prefer movies that have a clear beginning, middle, and end. This film met all those marks. From Harold played by Geoffrey Lowe to Prez played by Ahku, this cast was solid. Believable and engaging. I saw the characters not the actors. Well done! My only complaint is I shouldn't have played the movie at 9pm on a week night because it had my blood pumping and it was difficult to fall asleep after! Lol. I will be on the look out for more movies by Writer/Director Andre Welsh and any of the the actors on the cast. BRAVO!
I was lucky enough to catch this film at a film festival, and was super impressed by the actors, well written script, and perhaps most impressive... the cinematography skills from Andre Welsh. I just watched again and have to say it might be even better upon another viewing. Lots of twists, turns & great character development. Geoffrey Lower! Beautifully shot & a fun thrill ride.
I give it a 7.5/10. PROS: Original characters. Darkly comedic dialogue. Unpredictable pulpy plot structure. Solid acting. CONS: Setup takes a bit. Story has a lot going on - Almost at times seems like maybe too many characters but then starts to all come together in 2nd act. I went in cold not knowing anything about it so needless to say it was way different than what I was expecting. (which was a straight-forward revenge thriller) It's actually more like one of those movies where different characters and stories intertwine. Though it has a fair amount of brutal violence, the movie still has quite a few comedic moments as well. It is a slow-burn, but I enjoyed it.
Smart script, solid acting and gorgeous cinematography. Indie filmmaking at its finest. Great film all around. It's a gritty thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat while also managing to make you laugh along the way. Can't wait to see what director Andre Welsh does next. Talented guy!
I have read all 14 reviews...and the lowest score was a 5...others ranged from 7-10. I personally gave this a 9...as this is an intelligent piece on everything from alcoholism to violence...to the state of social media...acting was very accomplished and naturally minimalist...and the directing very precise. Many have given low ratings without a review...and judging from the writing of reviewers...I'd trust the written words to reflect my own conclusions. A pleasant surprise and time well-spent.
Though it is not a block buster you need a leap of faith with this film which means patience with a capital P which does not mean it is one of them slow films that go know where, it will! I love the last song used in end credits.
To be fair, I didn't watch the whole movie - just the first dull, slow, boring 35 minutes. Basically, an old man/ex-con in San Francisco goes about his life: going to AA meetings, checking in with his Parole Officer, going out to dinner with his daughter & her fiance. Nothing much is happening. It's not bad film quality or acting - it's just that it's not ABOUT anything. There's no plot. The camera follows this boring man's life around the city & not much goes on. It's not all that interesting. For a "Thriller" or "Action" movie, I would definitely look elsewhere. Who knows? Maybe the last 1/2 hour turns out to be really good? I'll never know, because I just couldn't sit through the boring non-story any further...
I write this review when Disrupted had a 5.1 rating on here. Much too low in my humble opinion. I thought this movie was entertaining, with no real dead moments, a well written story that keeps you focused, some bloody violence and more than decent acting from actors I know by face but not by name. In other words not very famous actors but that doesn't mean bad acting, au contraire. Disrupted is certainly worth a watch if you don't mind a bit of brass knuckles beatdowns.
