This version stayed pretty true to the manga and the anime. For any movie adaptation there are going to be the issues of skimming down the story. The content from the manga and the anime had to be told in a 2 *ur window. The storyline is not so smooth but you get the general gist of the movie and it definitely appeals to its target audience as it is a s*jo romance after all. This is why I gave it 4 stars. Oh and because I love Haruma Miura (RIP 😭) The reason why I didn't rate it any higher is because to me the characters are not delved into much, we only see whats on the surface and the characters come off unconvincing at times. For example we see Sawako interact with Yano and Yoshida twice or so and suddenly we are expected to believe that they're such close friends that Yoshida and Yano would care so much about their friendship with her and vice versa. Also the director c*se to leave out Kazehaya's dog Maru which meant we didn't get to see Kazehaya and Sawako bond over t*se scenes with Maru. It is during these scenes in the manga and anime that we see Sawako noticing *w caring Kazehaya is. The character Kurumi had virtually no purpose in this movie, we don't see her get close with Sawako at all so it would be difficult to understand why Sawako trusted her so much. Kurumi's purpose is to help Sawako realise *w much she actually likes Kazehaya but we don't really see that besides the scene where she convinces Sawako to talk to Ryu. Also in the anime Sawako misses the christmas party but Kazehaya waits for her afterwards and they meet. It's here she gives him a present. In this adaptation Sawako simply misses the christmas party and that's that. Basically to sum up the previous paragraph by c*osing to leave out scenes that s*w the growth of the bonds between the characters the movie suffers immensely. The flow of the story changes here and there and we don't get to understand why the characters made c*ices and felt a certain way. Sawako still doesn't explain to Kazehaya why she rejected him. It felt a incohesive and jumbled.

A little bit disappointed that I just found out about this movie in 2024. Omg heart melts with the lead actor. He is too perfect for what I want in a man in reality. A man with an attractive smile and a funny guy. In addition to being a gentleman, he is also galant. He doesn't be shy of protect the girl he loves in front of a crowd. And s*w his love to her, even t*ugh he is famous and she is the one that people get away from. After seeing it for the first time, I watched it several times in the following days and beyond. I have a crush on him, the perfect man. A little bit confused with a girl, but her kindness and sympathy are good qualities to skip over the others. Must watch live action movie for the genre of sc*ol romance movies.

Watching the first 2 episodes of this would bring anyone to tears. You really feel bad for her. The actress that played sawako is very good and convincing. You almost feel like it actually happened. A popular boy later befriends her and gets her to open up and they eventually fall in love. The rest of the cast was very good as well. Her two friends w* befriended her and later told her when she was trying to stay away from them that she was not causing them any problems. This was due to a rumor that was started by a jealous girl w* in the end becomes her friend as well. The ending was full of too many *les and loose ends that weren't tied. You only saw sawako coming back to s*ta. What happened to Ryu. Did he not come back to the other girl and what about Ayane did she not come back from overseas. This was not a netflix original as this was just s*wn on netflix and the date of release was 2010. Can they rectify this? Yes they can make a movie to tie up all of the loose ends and s*w *w the others fared. Had that been addressed during this series I would have rated it a 10.

In fact, even if you aren't familiar with Japanese culture, you will enjoy the film as its themes of love, friendship and the struggle to communicate feelings are universal. I think it does reasonable justice to the anime that inspired it by touching on that program's high points (e.g. the desk shuffling, Kazehaya's jealousy at the sports festival, the rumors that threaten the three girls' friendship). Naturally, some things get s*rt-changed. But this film (which is already pretty long for such a delicate, light story) does about as good a job as it could, I think, in distilling the anime down to its essential elements. Haruma Miura is very good as Kazehaya and captures t*se characteristics that makes his character the kind of boy every father would want his daughter to confess to. Initially, I didn't care for Mikako Tabe's portrayal but I was sold by the time the film ended. I was used to the waifish, breathy character from the anime and this Sawako is more restrained but her transformation from a shy, socially-inept girl w* won't talk to anyone to a glowing young woman w* can tell a boy that she likes him was very good and the arc was reasonable. The film is a bit rough around the edges (some of the extras overact) and the character of Pin is just as obnoxious here as he was in the anime (I don't think the character works in either place). But it's a gentle, sweet love story that anyone of any age can enjoy.

This movie has a complete package, its not only about love, but also friendship and family. The plot itself is indeed really good. it s*ws a clear transformation prosess of its main lead, also *w Kazehaya patiently waiting and trying so Kuronuma can understand his feeling. The message this movie trying to deliver to its audience, also get through. I learn that if somebody misundertand, we s*uld for once at least trying to explain it to them, so the misundertanding doesn't continue and lead to a bigger problems. Then, it also point out of *w becoming good friend one another. Kuronuma father is caring her a lot too

I'm an Asian films enthusiast, and "Kimi Ni Todoke" didn't let me down. While surely Sawako had emotional problems (cried a lot, not enough self-confidence and self-esteem issues, etc), it's this same thing that made her an inspiring character that younglings like myself can relate to. Kuronuma Sawako, a shy and friendless young girl constantly placed at a distance for her resemblance to Sadako from the "Ringu" film, is simply a sweet girl. She cares about others, places others before her, but it's that same concern and care that isn't reciprocal. And then Kazehaya, the most popular, friendly and liked boy in the cl*, comes in the picture, and he turns her world around, s*wing her that she is just good enough the way she is, by giving her the love that she never got back. From Kazehaya then comes getting exposed to the world of adolescence, where Sawako is exposed to first real friendships, love, and the fact that sometimes you have to think for yourself also, and if your heart beats a certain way, you just can't *ld that back and inside. From being the shy kid w* could hardly get a few words out, she learned to speak her mind, stand up for the people she loved and love itself, and in the end, she grows a lot (good character development). In addition too, it's just a cute story! I watched it yesterday and am watching it again in a little while. It's a story that leaves you with good feelings, but unlike most films, t*se feelings are realistic and is something that a lot of teens and young adults can relate to. So like shy Sawako did, it's better to speak your heart out than let it's beat go. An inspiring film, indeed.
