To watch this movie I feel you need to have some knowledge of the John Gotti senior and junior to really be able to follow it properly. The acting is on the whole top notch, John Travolta is very good as John Gotti Senior and Spencer Rocco Lofranco came across well as John Gotti Junior. Most of the supporting cast did a good job as well. Stacy Keach and Kelly Preston can always be relied on to give a good performances. I just found the movie meandered all over the place too much and didn't really explain enough about these two men. This could be put down to not enough time, the movie really needed to be longer. Even with all the beforehand knowledge I had about these men from my own research and what I had heard on the news, I still found the movie a bit hard to follow. An OK movie but a bit of a mess and not one I would recommend paying to see unless you are a big John Travolta fan.

A biographical docu-drama about the life of Mafia chieftain, John Gotti. He tells his son, and other Mafiaosos, the ethics he expects of a member of La Cosa Nostra. Much of the film is politics: who's who in their hierarchy, and their ambitions. The film is dinner at Denny's. Adequate, but not impressive; solidly standard, but not surprising. Seen on Tubi, the free streaming site; which now has live TV.

You know when cartoons like the Simpsons have characters on the show to laughingly depict gangsters? This is that movie. Or I assume it is as I shut it off after about 20 minutes.

Firstly, I am neither a bot or fake reviewer. I actually liked this movie and don't know why people bashed it. I thought all the actors played their roles well and not that I know a lot about John Gotti, this film appeared to stay somewhat based on facts. It didn't hold much back and as much as the real Gotti was an evil man, at times I felt a soft spot for him but I won't give anything away. The only bit - and it was a tiny scene - is where a 16 yr old girl is played by an obviously much older person. Other than that, do as I did. Ignore the low reviews and see it for yourself. You may be just as surprised as I was.

The HBO version of Gotta with Armand Assante had a much better script. This movie didn't need to be made, nothing new was learned.

When I heard that John Travolta was playing the role of John Gotti, The first thing that came to mind was that he is totally wrong for the role. As an actor, this role is too heavy for him. Somebody like Robert De Niro would have been better. It was just tough to take John Travolta seriously in the role of John Gotti. When it comes to tough guys, Travolta should stick with comical characters like Vinny Barbarino, and Tony Manero. That is what he does best. A lot of other stuff just didn't work in this film. The other characters were miscast, as well. And, the soundtrack did not fit the movie. They were trying to attract a younger audience with music by PitBull, but it just didn't work.

Ugh, where to start with this thing? The problem with this film is that it shows John Gotti as a hero and a man of honor when he was anything but. He was a murderer and a criminal. It tries to rationalize everything he did, from murdering mob boss Paul Castellano to the disappearance of his neighbor who was involved in a tragic traffic accident. The villains in this movie are the FBI and the NYPD. It's truly bizarre. I just took away one star just writing that sentence. The wraparound story is Gotti meeting with his son in prison, trying to convince him not to take a plea to get out from under an indictment. The narrative jumps back and forth, characters are introduced. It's trying to tell too many stories in a short period of time. Even being familiar with some of the background, I found the movie to be disjointed and a little confusing. Who was killing who for what reason? Travolta is actually a pretty good actor. But he can't save this mess of a movie.
