When cinema seems to be sinking under the monotonous waters of netflix, there are some rare gems to be discovered. Covid and cancelling culture are NOT present in this lysergic comedy by Ulrich Thomsen -known to me only as an actor-. Enjoy this wonderful sausage!
This highly original Danish/US satire hits bigotry right in the stomach. Funny to laugh out loud funny and wonderfully politically incorrect. Great cast, love Ewen Bremner (Train spotting) and Antony Starr (Banshee, The Boys ) and great camera work too. Highly recommended.
Saw this at the Glasgow Film Festival earlier this year. Went in blind, my girlfriend was working the festival and suggested Gutterbee. Being Scottish, Ewen Bremner drew me in right away, as well as the excellent Anthony Starr, who I had just seen in The Boys. Plot is weak at some points, have to suspend your belief a lot, some scenes were unnecessary. But on the whole a hilarious film and a hidden gem, not one subpar performance. Wonderful!
