The old one was better and more edgy and fun! The old one is a 5 out of 10 but this is a 3 out of ten! Old actors were better and i recommend you to see the old one (it´s trash but better) And also go and see Felix Nordhs Review of Vinterviken (1996) it´s funny!
My favorite movie is the JJ+E . The movie is so amazing and the story is interesting. Also the mystery of the story makes it great. I watched the movie many times and never get board of it. Everything in the movie is great including the actors and actresses played their role in a good way.
I could feel the love between Elizabeth and John-John, I could feel their pain too. The music was perfectly chosen, from the beginning of the movie it spoke to me. The scene in the pool (beginning) very sensual. I could feel JJ not wanting to be involved in criminal activities, but his friend was like a brother to him and he didn't want to let him down. A real struggle. He knew the things they did were very wrong, but he didn't know how to break the cycle. You could feel the love that was put into this movie (the scene with JJ and his mom on the sofa for instance). I shed some tears during (JJ+E's) love scene as it was so beautifully made and from when JJ's friend was killed I cried all the way to the end actually and I am far from being a teenager anymore. I'm rating 10, as it was a real winner for me. Thanks for sharing this wonderful movie @Netflix.
Two individuals with different backgrounds ... yes you've probably heard the story before. And yes Shakespeare (and others I reckon) have done amazing work with that premise. So if you compare it with masterpieces ... well this won't fair too good. Having said that, if you can free yourself from any comparisons (or at least most of them), you can have some fun with this version of the class war ... and love. Not too much war going on I reckon. It's a decent effort that targets a teenage audience. So if you are the target audience, you may like this more than others here.
There wasn't a lot of good things about this movie. The only "good" thing to me was the visuals. For example the party in the woods. The visuals in that scene were pretty decent. There were a lot of bad things. Elisabeth feels dead, she has no personality and no real character development. When JJ and Elisabeth got robbed she got mad at JJ for not giving the robbers his watch but then defended him when her dad said that he doesn't want her to be with him. That makes no sense. The side stories in this movie are so unnecessary, for example the part where Elisabeth's grandmother didn't want to sell their summer house but her dad wanted to. There is nothing else said about it and it brings nothing to the story. Sometimes the story went by a little too fast, for example when Sluggo talked to the guy that was harrassing his girlfriend, that came out of nowhere. I also feel like JJ's and Elisabeth's love is too fast. Just a few weeks go by and they are already having sex. The ending is pretty weird too. JJ points a gun at the guy who killed Sluggo but then he called the police. There is nothing to show that he changed his mind since he wanted to shoot the guy in the beginning but then he didn't.
Elisabeth could have showed more character. Besides that, the movie felt so realistic. Almost the same as my experience. And for some reason I felt the main character was JJ. 💁
