Cheesy with a capital C, (but very easy watching if your partner has a headache). The two leads have chemistry, but over smile (nah, grin like Cheshire cats) throughout the entire movie. The audio is poor, and the party scene has the guests dancing as if in a silent disco. The main characters are all over the top in facial expressions and mannerisms. The boat appears to get repaired by constant mopping of the fore deck. Other than that, its harmless fun and not without its charms, even if the plot is as transparent as "the clear skies" and utterly predictable. If you set your expectations low, you'll probably enjoy it enough to get lost for 90 mins - just don't expect anything more than a Hallmark special.
This movie would be above average Reel One Entertainment TV movie but it's ROE so it again failed on technical issues. Casting was good. I'm looking forward to watch Alanna Smith again. Her partner, TBT was good. They had natural chemistry. There was just one annoying thing and I blame director - both of them smiled a bit of too much especially Alanna. She has really beautiful smile, but I guess director forced it because it's a comedy movie. Yes, there is romance, but most of the movie is light hearted comedy, and it was executed very well which is really rare in ROE TV movies. Writting was satisfactory. The movie doesn't take place on the fictional Caribbean island - it was obviously filmed in and close to the City of Miami. But that's not immersion killer. What killed immersion in so many scenes are like in the most ROE TV movies - load and inappropriate background music and poor audio recording like they used cell phones. It also has many goofs visible from sky. And don't watch trailer if you plan to watch movie as it shows everything till the end. It's ROE and for some reason(s) their every trailer shows whole movie.
This movie is not original, but there are a few nice little twists. The's a good mix of ages and characters - some are kinder than they originally seem. I appreciate this was filmed in the pandemic, so things were limited, but I'd have liked more wider location shots showing the port etc rather than predominantly just the boat deck - felt a bit claustrophobic. Unfortunately, I don't enjoy slapstick, so I gave up watching after two water incidents and the threat of a paint fight. These Reel One movies are generally ok, and all-age-friendly - the priority for my household - but some don't quite have the classic Hallmark quality.
