The story's premise of an infectious strain that instantly causes loss of the conscious controls centers of the brain while also enhancing the primitive emotional centers while also giving you one red eye was too over-the-top ridiculous. The story's writers need a bit of math help as supposedly it spreads worldwide, but only 1000 cases confirmed (half in the US). Not much of a contagion. Anyway, the entire story takes place in one office building (infectious agent was in water cooler of course) where petty animosities suddenly become deadly as staff begin to pound on each other. Boring, so ff was my cure for this disease.
Seriously - I don't often enthuse about a film. The last few times I've done so is Hit-man's Bodyguard and Deadpool. (Which gives you an idea as to my tastes.) But most films I see rate a "meh". I'm picky - and films I give a thumbs up to have to have spark, evil and witty writing - and actually SAY something that matters. (IE: no fluffy, mindless gloss - no matter how pretty it is.) Let's just put in this way: you REALLY should see Mayhem. It's Office Space meets Deadpool.... and a touch of (only the best) of Evil Dead! Best thing I've seen in quite some time!
This is a blatant clone of the Belko Experiment but its actually better than the original. It started off really well but ended up with predictable gory violence that belied its smart start - could have been a really smart virus epidemic movie but went off the rails somewhere so gets a 6 instead of a 7. Dialogue was good (liked the forbidden planet references) as was the acting and anyone that has worked in an office knows they would love to kill and seriously f*** up some if not all of your sad incompetent managers and stab in the back co-workers - I know I would for sure so for us killers in waiting its a bit more exciting than it would be for the "normal" sheeple! Great Film for those who work in an office and fantasise about offing your fellow co-workers! Now where did I put my Hammer!
If you've seen the Belko Experiment, then you already have an idea of what to expect in this movie only that it's way better in terms of story, plot and acting. One of the things I really loved is that the cause of the mayhem is a virus which is more realistic than explosive chips put in the skulls of co-workers of a firm who were ordered to kill each other by a mystery voice (Belko Experiment). This makes the violence and chaos more enjoyable. Plus it's not all about violence, though majorly violence. I also feel the corporate environment was better portrayed here. So if you're looking for an action movie with lots of blood, suspense and little hints of comedy, you can give this a shot. It is very enjoyable from beginning to end.
The movie starts with a good activity and sudden accidents. An unknown virus spreads quickly across a office and along the virus the movie kicks off very quickly with some real firework..all the events occurred within first hour of the movie..all with great pace and creates much much interest in the mind of audience.. But soon the diversity of action and thoughts diminishes..chaos and violence begins to take the upperhand..More and more ordinary killing scenes appears..scenes of flesh and blood.. many will find them intolerable..hence the movie loses it's track. Towards the end some glimps of brightness and good climax arrives..But not enough to really surprise the audience.. But if we see overall composer of it then we find this excellent start is neutralized by the sudden drop at the end. Still it remains in the positive marking. If we substract the bad and good of this film the answer will be + . so i suggest you to see the film and make your own rating
The perfect film for a lazy Sunday afternoon. I happen led upon this film today while looking for something interesting to watch. At first I was initially skeptical when reviewing the trailer and description. I was happy to see it staring Steven Yuen and Walking Dead Alumnus, Dallas Roberts aka Milton. But I feared this would probably suck as so many films staring former movie favorites do with type casting. Yet it I held out hope and boy I wasn't disappointed. Good to see Steven Yuen land on his feet in a starring role since his character Glenn got Lucille'd. What I found delightful was the excellent writing, gore, acting an social commentary. Who hasn't felt like punching your boss in the face. Yes the premise for the virus is a bit overblown and unrealistic, but who cares. The story carries well and it's fun to watch. We've all seen or had management types like those in real life, and it's the workers who suffer. Anyhow it was good to see they didn't try to rip off TWD, except for one part where someone's says a TWD famous painted statement. Fans will know it instantly when you hear it. I loved all the violence and gore scenes. Tastefully done without going overboard. Funny as hell with the banter between the characters. What's not to like here. Yes the ending was a bit anticlimactic but didn't ruin the film by any means. Overall it was just a joyful way to spend the afternoon. BTW, I don't get all the trolls on IMDb. The movie wasn't trying to win an Oscar. Honestly some folks have no life and just look for any shady reason to complain or criticize to be relevant. Good luck with that and just enjoy the show.
