Of An Age is a depiction of a relationship between an openly gay man and someone who is in the process of self discovery, but this is just an underlying element and not what drives the narrative. It reminds us that love in its entity is the same for every human being. This was truly and profoundly the most relatable, raw and honest portrayal of love I have come across in film. From the moment it started, I was fully immersed. The intense connection between Adam and Kol only strengthened as the narrative unfolded - building to a crescendo that leaves you feeling somewhat lost, but hopeful at the same time. Very few have nailed it the way Stolevski did, especially with a dialogue-driven script. This was a brilliant piece of Australian cinema that deserves to be seen. Great work.

Opens with too much swearing and apparently 'arty' shaky camera angles plus the location scouts seem to have found the worst parts of Melbourne - it doesn't let up. The overall impression is this is someone's vanity project and any sense of connection with the actors is difficult to find and the characters are hard to like. What could have been a love story with a gritty edge was spoiled by an apparent need to be 'street' and became an instant turn off. The second half is certainly better than the first but overall, just another expletive laden, trashy film to add to Australia's reputation of a 'once was' producer of quality films.

The trailer for this film, although accurate, does not prepare you for the love story of this movie. A dancer's finds herself stranded on a beach, and calls her partner to arrange her brother to pick them up so they could make it to a contest being held that morning. The movie focuses that chance meeting of both men, the easy yet personal banter they have, and the events that follow. The chemistry between the main actors is the draw to the film. You can feel the growing attraction between the two. That's what's moves this film, making it stand out against others with nudity and "intimate" moments. I love this film, and rank it right there with another awesome movie - 'God's Own Country'.

This was an amazing movie! Right off the bat I connected with the characters because I once had to part ways with a past lover and it nearly wrecked me. When Adam and Kol are in the car and Adam drops Kol off, the tears immediately started rolling down for me. The chemistry that they built made it hard for Kol to let go. The iconic scene of them up on the hill looking and Adam grabbing Kol from behind was the scene that did it for me. The love between them was nothing like I've seen in a movie. Later in the movie when it was announced that Adam was married, I felt attacked and I'm not even an actress! The very end where they didn't care to make love, but Adam whispering "my beautiful boy" made it all that much more enticing. I can not rant about this movie enough.

Powerfully evocative, Of an Age is enhanced by the strong performances of the 2 main characters, Adam (Thom Green) and Kol (Elias Anton). Set mainly in suburban Melbourne Australia in the 1990s, the story revolves around Kol's and Adam's rescue of Ebony (Hattie Hook), Adam's younger sister on a hot morning of a dance competition. During the course of their efforts to reach Ebony, Adam and Kol come to know one another in Adam's car. In fact, a lot of this movie is in Adam's car with striking close-ups of the 2 main characters, which builds the sexual and emotional bond. After arriving in Altona to collect Ebony, they return to Adam's and Ebony's family home, having missed the deadline for the dance competition. Later in the day Adam and Kol cement their connection. The last part of the movie moves forward 10 years when Ebony is getting married and hers and the 2 main characters' lives intersect again. A lot has happened for each in the 10 years that has passed and the bonds have shifted. The cinematography in the movie is captivating and effective. The strong direction particularly of the 2 main characters in their many interactions is sensitive and intense. I walked away deeply affected by this Aussie movie. Highly recommended.

I recently watched a film called 'Of an age', and I must say that I enjoyed it. The film's choice of theme and characters was particularly fascinating to me. From the beginning of the movie, it was evident that the chemistry between the two main actors was exceptional and built up nicely throughout the film. The relationship between the central characters, which was integral to the movie's storyline, was a joy to watch. As you watch the film, you get a sense of how it's trying to recreate a time now gone, full of memories that are dear to many. The nostalgic tone of the film was indeed a significant factor in its appeal. Moreover, the use of a well-curated and well-timed music score complemented the nostalgia theme perfectly. The film managed to present nostalgic elements without being too heavy, striking a fine balance with the audience. However, the movie story lacked the level of intensity I prefer in movies. Personally, I find that a well-crafted story is a primary driver that can keep me fully hooked. Although the film had its moments of suspense, they were few and far between. Nonetheless, despite the low level of overall suspense in the movie, it was highly engaging. From start to finish, I found myself invested in the two central characters' outcome. Overall, 'Of an age' is an excellent film that demonstrates how a movie does not have to be suspense-filled to be engaging. The film's unique characters, striking visuals, and nostalgic undertones make for a highly enjoyable cinematic experience that I would suggest is well worth watching.

I can't get rid of this film. I watched over and over again. This is all about my life. I mean this is the real world. He will have that special feeling always with him. It never can fill to any one. But he has to face reality. I don't no about adams feeling. Is he love him or not. But i think he also feel some thing for him. Kol have to live with pain. But it's pleasure , because the memory will always with him. I'm really cry for the last part. They know , they can't have each other. But in that moment he won't let him go. Its really sad. Thank you very much for everyone this beautiful work.

In 1999, Kol is an aspiring dancer, a Serbian refugee living in Australia with his single mother and members of the Serbian community. On the morning of his final dance exam, his dance partner, Ebony, awakes to find herself alone on a relatively remote beach after a night of partying. Eventually, Kol manages to get Ebony's older brother Adam to come to their rescue, though not in time for the exam. The road trip chatter between the guys include books, music, and plans. Adam is going to Buenos Aires tomorrow, being interested in Latino men, and inspired by the gay friends in the movie Happy Together. At some point, Adam has his shirt off while driving. Various events over the day has a never-thought-he-was-gay Kol getting very interested in Adam. Over a decade later, they meet again at Ebony's wedding, where they compare their life stories since their whirlwind romance. I credit the writers for nicely threading the needle for the dates - the Serbian war, the movie, and the different dates gay marriage was legalized in different countries. The acting is solid, and Kol starts with a nice dance sequence. I did find the Australian accents a bit hard to follow. Also, Kol just does not seem to be the 17-year-old he is supposed to be in 1999.

It is rare that I rate a movie let alone write a review but I felt compelled to do so after watching 'Of an Age'. The relationship between the two main characters, Adam and Kol, was so emotionally raw you could feel it from the moment they met. It isn't often that you see a same sex relationship portrayed on the big screen, let alone in such a beautiful way as the director Goran Stolevski did. I cold feel what Kol felt with the initial goodbye. I could feel what he felt when they reconnected in the airport. The last scene blew me away and reminded me that your first true love always holds a special place in your heart. Even if it was for a fleeting moment from days gone by. I'd strongly recommend this movie if you love the romance genre. Have added Elias Anton and Thom Green to my favorites on IMDB as I can't wait to see what else they've done and what is to come! Adding this one to my top 10 favorites of all time!
