This is a very intimate and personal look at the life and career of Pamela Anderson. While it does give great insight into Pam. It is also filled with tons of footage, home movies, news clips, interviews, and personal discussions. I love that Pam is included in the making of this. It is a decently constructed documentary. It ties many aspects and pieces of her life together and allows you to hear many of the answers to many of the rumors surrounding her celebrity in her own words. It made me feel great affinity for her. My biggest issue with it is not the nudity, it is the fact that it is boring-even if you are a Pam junkie.
This story has very little that hasn't already been shown on other documentaries or interviews. I was hoping to see a side of Pam that was deeper or more interesting than what we've seen before, but that is sadly not the case. Additionally, Pam continues to act offended that there's so much focus on her body, taking no responsibility for the situation, even though she paraded around, half dressed, and numerous Playboy magazine appearances. In fact, Pamela Anderson would have no career without her body. She sites interviews with people like Jay Leno, where she feels offended by the focus on her breast, yet she's always wearing something super tight or low cut. Cry me a river. I do think she had a rough childhood, with an abusive father and was sexually abused by more than one person. As a result, she went on to make terrible decisions with men. I also have to give her kudos for filming without makeup! She's still a beautiful woman in a natural way.
Normally in a biopic you get some added dimension or different perspective on the subject but there's just no substance in this at all. This is it in a nutshell - and I'm using lines from the actual show: "I always say my * had a career and I just went along for the ride..." Puts on a big smile. "Do you want to see them?!!" It's demeaning to her and the audience and should have been scrapped. I have totally no idea how anyone would find anything of value in this that hasn't been covered already in what is now a well worn path of biopics and biopic making. These types of personal docos have become almost the exact same script just with a different subject's face on it.
