While the roles have been played by good actors it makes no sense to justify something that is intense and unlawful. The person being under influence of alcohol and weed tries to rape a woman. The actions are justified saying he was under the influence of alcohol and stress since his wedding didn't happen. There is no moral to this movie it's showing a story of a man who tries to rape a girl and escaped and also he continues his life with positivity and happiness. There are dialogues such as " whatever happened happened you need to keep going forward it life" Acting was good but the story is ridiculous.
Vincent aka Ummachan is an unlucky unmarried man in his 40s. He is a loner and fears his mental status owing to his mother's issues. After several rejections, his marriage is fixed with Jessy and he tries his best to stay confident enough to move forward with this phase of his life. Sadly, Jessy elopes, humiliating him infront of everyone. Heartbroken Vincent resorts to drinking and sulking. Meantime, a tiger has been spotted and people are notified to not roan around alone in the night. Vincent yearns to spend the night with a woman and comes across a stranded tourist. He brings her back to his house, lying it to be an homestay. What happens on that night as he loses control and how many times they announce about the supposed tiger on the loose, forms rest of the story. Pulimada was truly a disappointing watch, pointlessly dragged through it's 100+ minutes, relying on the lead actors Jojy George and Aishwarya Rajesh. One can sympathise with Vincent's plight initially but after a point, there isn't much relate with that character's actions. Similarly Aishwarya gets a weakly written character of Mahishmathi and the hype behind keeping her character a mystery till the end, didn't pay off. This is solely due to the writing and that entire subplot involving the tiger warning fades away as apart from being an ineffective plot tool, it offered nothing. For the actors' caliber, this ended up as a forgettable venture and even they cannot save this mess.
The film had a great start and the production design of this movie is set in Wayanad, where not many movies are shot. The story was engaging and started with a bang, but sadly, it lost its aura in the second half. The supporting actors were cracking in the first half and I admire the humour-rich conversation of Jaffer Idukki, who had an important role in the movie. Joju was so good throughout but the movie collapses as it proceeds due to its weak screenplay. I expected more in the second half, and it would have been great if the creators could have put more effort into the second half. Below average experience overall.
I'm not sure how to rate this movie. Acting was excellent as expected from Joju joseph. The first half was good and keeps raising the expectation - Joju's character gives a vibe of Chola and Iratta. But there's an unknown in the movie which is not clearly mentioned - that is, whether the Mahishmathi character and the related events were imaginary in Joju's head. If mahishmathi is imaginary, then the "manager" and psychiatrist characters should be imaginary too. If these characters and events are imaginary, it's truly an amazing movie. But if those characters are real, the whole second half is cringe and nonsensical and doesn't fit the class of the rest of the movie in any way. If her character is imaginary, the movie can be rated 7 or 8 /10, if she's real the rating should be 1/10 😅.
"Pulimada" revolves around the life of a policeman whose life dramatically turns when his fiancée disappears on the day of their wedding. Joju George's exceptional acting skills bring the character to life. His ability to convey the complex emotions of betrayal, heartbreak, and determination contributes significantly to the film's impact. Despite the intense emotions explored in the movie, it offers a sense of closure with a happy ending. This contributes to its appeal as a one-time watch, leaving viewers with a satisfying ending. Aishwarya Rajesh's also did a good commendable portrayal. Altogether the movie is a good weekend time killer.
