This movie is for kids.....However, it is completely full of stereotypes. And the main character "Charlie" is completely demasculinized....his voice is even very much like that of a girl. The girls, of course, are the smart ones who figure everything out and are very much alpha male. The story, which could have been really well written, instead portrays a superior "alien" technological secret headquarters that is accessed by clicking hanging metal balls together and then only needs a pass code to enter on a punchpad......allowing anyone who figures that out to enter the "secret headquarters? Really? How did it possibly remain secret for 10 years? Owen Wilson, who I really like......plays Owen Wilson......can he act like a "character". I guess not. The Owen Wilson charm is worn completely thin on this film. If you are looking for another Superhero movie to watch (like there aren't enough of them) with lots of CGI that is brainless and full of the same ol same ol stereotypical characters and scenarios and can entertain your kids....maybe this would be for them.....

Super-Hero movies are popular these days. This is another attempt at just that starring Owen Wilson as a secret defender of planet earth. His son and some friends accidentally opens the door to the Defenders headquarters which invites villains and suddenly the world needs saving. The special-effects are not bad. But that's just not good enough, by itself, to make an interesting movie. This is basically a children's movie about young stereotypes doing annoying stereotypical things. There are some daddy/son issues going on under the surface of this film... but you will probably not care because that's just one of endless cliches in this film that got nothing new to offer. Im not even sure if this film will sit well with children.

The story, the characters are so overused that I felt how my brain cells fell asleep while watching. Secret Headquarters is not a candidate for the worst movie ever award but so absolute mediocre, so generic, so boring, that I have only one word to describe the experience: lame. But I can imagine, that young ones, who have not watched movies for decades can enjoy the experience somehow, because for them the recipe of Secret Headquarters may still taste fresh.

Robert Rodriguez knows how to do these. This production team does not. Bad writing, bad casting, bad directing. The story makes no sense. The characters make bad choices. The key to a good film is viewer connection. There is none.

Why did they make this movie? Terrible knock-off of 'Home Alone' meets 'Iron Man'. Acting was very poorly done - even from the adults. Flat jokes. This was a waste of money and time for everyone involved - including the audience. Awful special effects and fighting sequences. Bad writing and directing.

I wanted to love it being a fan of Owen Wilson, but he has limited screen presence here. The kids are not the best of actors, and one is not very likable. Some scenes demoted this movie from average to mediocre, unfortunately. But there are good parts and it is fairly enjoyable, especially if you watch it with kids. But seriously why should there always be a love interest in kids movies!! I mean 14 year olds should not be wasting 50% of their time thinking finding love at that age is critical to their survival in their culture. It sickens me such cliches and it adds nothing to the story or movie as a whole. I really miss the old kids "coming of age" movies, they had more substance, even the Sci-Fi ones. Nevertheless, I would recommend this one for tweens for a family night out.

The most ridiculous and unnatural dialog I have ever heard coming out of kids mouths in a movie. Stupid was an understatement for a description of this movie.

I really enjoyed this movie. I have know idea who can give this a 1. It may not be a blockbuster, but certainly watchable and fun. I know these types of movies have been done so many times, but this movie was pretty good. The CGI was done well. I thought the kids in the cast were good also. Momona Tamada was the standout as in very good. Don't be a miserable ... and just enjoy the movie. It's decent!
