Most people watching this from the UK would be irritated beyond belief by Keira Knightley after just a few minutes like I was. I found it impossible to concentrate on the film with her strange performance, I'm not sure if she was happy to play a stereotypical US view of a Brit but she certainly obliged. Not only that but she made sure all the Americanisms stayed in her dialogue to go with it. Not many people I know refer to petrol as 'gas' for example and thats just for starters, to be honest I found myself switching off after a while. Carell is very flat in this too, miscast maybe. Not a good film at all, could have been good with a different cast maybe.

You start in a world that is about to end and just as it should be the movie is slow at the beginning giving you time to really dive into it. Then it carries you from scene to scene effortlessly achieving the beauty of portraying emotions through pictures. The cast is amazing Steve with his simple and yet so intriguing character and Keira with her fun loving personality just amazing. But what is essential, is the feeling that this movie creates and the long lasting Impression of it afterwords. What is important in life? With whom you want to share it? Pact in this simple and original movie that I know I can rewatch for ever and still get tears because of the overwhelming emotions and joy. The hope that even if the world ended we would have lifed a life that was worth living.

Though the actors are rather good and the cinematography has no big flaw, SAFFTEOTW ultimately suffers from its simplistic, superficial script. The plot is very thin, lacks dynamic and unfolds pretty slowly despite the ~1h35, with dialogues that are, for the most part, laborious and overlong. A lot of scenes are cliché and overplayed, and the emotions that the movie tried to convey feel forced. As for the characters, it is difficult to connect with them because they obviously lack a lot of development to be interesting. Bottomline, a movie to forget.

I had some mixed feelings, when I began to watch this movie: I do love romantic stories and black humor, so I thought it will be fun to watch a comedy about the end of the world; on the other hand I don't really like neither Keira Knightley, nor Steve Carrell, but both of them had some good movies, though. And as the minutes passed, my feelings became really clear and straightforward: I hated this horrible crap. This is nit funny, not dramatic, not romantic, not anything - this two people get together somehow, stay together somehow, for no particular reason, and then came the most horrifying 20-25 minutes I ever, EVER saw - the ending is the most pathetic, boring, senseless crap ever produced by a director, I mean, it's something like Uwe Boll would be ashamed of. Don't watch it. It's not funny, by any means. Uwe Boll movies are so bad, that they're fun to watch. Seeking a friend doesn't give you even that little joy.

This movie sounded like it was gonna be a big flop, but wow. It's so quirky, witty, and adorable. Steve Carrell and Keira Knightley are perfect together, despite the age gap. It's a rom-com with an original idea and complex characters. I was so invested in this love story that I cried at the ending. I've probably rewatched this movie 10 times. This film is totally underrated. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes rom-coms or black comedy.

In three weeks an asteroid will hit Earth, destroying all life on it. Dodge Petersen is unfazed by the news, a response which causes his wife Linda to leave him. While everyone else is behaving in typical fashion at the certainty of the world ending, Dodge carries on regardless, until he bumps into his neighbour Penny... Weak. I was expecting something more profound and emotional. Instead the movie mostly drifts, detours into lame comedy scenes, and ultimately is underwhelming. Has a few good moments, however, and the conclusion is quite sweet. Decent performances by Steve Carell and Keira Knightley in the lead roles.
