Stalingrad

Awful. If you want to watch a film about the battle of Stalingrad watch the 1993 German film of the same name or even Enemy at the Gates. This Filmed seemed to pay no attention to the history at all. The whole movie practically takes place in one building. You get little glimpse of the scope of the battle. The film seems more of Stalinist propaganda film from the Cold War. An honest telling of what happened in the battle of Stalingrad, This is not. do yourself a favour and don't give yourself the torture of sitting through this train wreck. They're are much more deserving films on this subject you will enjoy much more. A few are Enemy at the gates, Stalingrad 1993 or even Stalingrad Dogs do you want live forever.

It looks good, but the story is kinda "meh". It has its own problems. First one: that pointless scene where soldiers are charging an "MG nest" while they are on fire. Almost every battle is in slow-motion. I'm not a military expert or a tank gunner, but damn you really have to be that lucky if you manage to one shot and damage the enemy with your anti-tank gun using a destroyed T-34. There was a scene, when one of the Red Army soldier, is "almost" captured and he still manage to grab a grenade and kill a few german soldiers. Yet again, this soldier manage to kill the colonel with "pocket" knife. You can see how bad that scene was. Another bad scene was with that tank projectile... it felt like I was in the Matrix movie for a second.

I really LIKE this film because it really represents inclement of war,but nobody can't now what really happened in Stalingrad. But,I have one defect,there in film is no modern Russian rockets,named Kacusa. Maybe,it's little hard for watching. If you watch movie like movie,lower grade,but if you understand movie and war,it can be very higher and it can be very good. People did very good job.You will like movie.The scenes were carefully created and the effects such as when the oil tanks blow and the solders come running at the Germans when they are on fire was just a great sight(Not that I like seeing people burn). The background art is the amazing. I recommend seeing it in Russian with subtitles of your language. It's just better that way. All in all,good movie and I suppose you to watch if you don't,and sorry If I have little bad English.

It's nothing to do with the flag-waving patriotism nor any kind of moral quandary, but instead the Russian blockbuster's slick, stereoscopic visuals. A sea of blue-grey is dimmed further by 3D, whilst explosions provide the majority of colourful focal points in a representation of a war-torn city that never quite feels right. It could potentially be part of the plan, for a plot imbued with a fable-like quality, but it's all far too weightless. For a drama with a heavy emphasis on spectacle, it's an odd sensation when the visuals are so alienating.

As Russia has nothing to be proud of, they opened a can withfictional heroes, who are bullet, flame and steel resistant.

Great actors performance, great regie. A very interesting idea to do a parallel between the catastrophe in Japan and in Stalingrad- the circumstances change- the people stay the same. Very strong scene at the begging aswell: the son of survivors from the battle for Stalingrad is helping and saving germans who got caught in the remains of a destroyed building.. A movie full with strong messages: about forgiveness, love (The love between the german capitain and the beautiful russian does not has limits- language, nationality, ongoing war)... And the most important one: one should always remember how crazy and cruel war is and be thankful for every peaceful day..

Aww c'mon. That producer dissapointing me so much, no way the 1993 version is better than this. And about propaganda, i see comments on youtube that this film is a bad..... Really really bad film. When you look a trailer you will be interested, but after you watch the full film, you'll not satisfied enough

Just a terrible movie. Plot is boring. Directing of super poor quality. Fight scenes absolutely not realistic. Overall... just Mehhh.

I would definitely recommend this movie. The actor did a great job, I watched the movie with my husband (and he doesn't speak Russian)and he didn't complaint about any voice over or any type of distraction. If you see any type of propaganda I would disagree... Well done. I can not say that I liked the movie, because it's the movie about war and people who died... Why I would recommend it? Maybe because I want people to remember for a second the people that fought for our PEACE. I am not talking about Russians or any other nations in particular, I am talking about every soldier that gave up they life so we can live in peace. This is basically what the movie is about... Look at it this way: the Russians saving Katya in the movie is as they saving future generations so that they don't see the horror of WAR. Let's just give them our memories and A BIG THANK YOU!!!

Yes it's far from real. Too much love story in it and too good 3D effects. But the main point is right. You should thank those brave heroes who changed the history in the battle of Stalingrad, which is the most decisive battle of WW2. Russians and Germans lost over 2 million people in only this one battle. Very good philosophical ideas like: 1) both Russians and Germans are talking about how it could have been in there hadn't been the war. 2) Irony about how Germans call Russians barbarians while they say "let's sacrifice these woman and the girl like our ancient Germans did before a battle". 3) We should thank that Russian generation for the fact we don't know the war ourselves. Because after defeating Nazism we didn't have any war since then.
