I understand the topic.... and that she wanted to write a book. But for my taste, too much explicity and nudity without censore. Literally like a * film... 90% * and 10% she talks a story and wants to write a book. There is a sceene where a pedophile comes to borthel, and literallya asks that woman pretend that she's 12. Was very disturbing to watch. In the cinema some people even brought kids... I guess they didn't know or expect. All in all... I felt dirty and with weird sensation after finishing movie. Also - no really noticable point of what's the message they wanted to transmitt.... But sure, ones who like this topic, give it a try.

Margaret; Emma younger's sister said "she's worried the potential risk of romanticising brothels and prostitution from her sister's novel will bring to young girls. I couldn't agree more. Standing at Emma's side. I agree that when selling sex is a choice, there is nothing to be ashamed of. You love sex? You want to earn money from what you love? Sure, go ahead. But the reality of many prostitutes are, many have no choices. The movie beautify brothel to be a place to earn good money with good work-life balance. Compare to a regular job that pays peanut and requires more than 10 hours of work. Brothel is absolutely a perfect choice. But, in the reality. What progression or skills does brothel gives you? Good at blowjobs? How to fake your climax to satisfy your customer? What will these brings you when you are lose all the collagens around your skin? What about the work hazards? Diseases? Rapes? Drugs? Yea, it did covered a little. And phew, our Emma has safely got over all these problems without any deterimental harm. The "culture" of the brothel was also rather too good to be true? All these women are like a family. No losing customer to one another. No jealousy. I thought they are nuns in the monastery. Even the most regular workplace, we have women who are petty and neurotic af. But these women in the brothel are so different, yet so successful and supportive in their job? Don't kid me. The final straw that breaks the Camel's back is so cliche. That is encountering a potential pedophile, a freaking taboo in 22nd century. Only when Emma realised her submission to keep herself alive opens the door for this pedophile to reach out to young girls in the future. This movie, yet, did not show whether she stopped prostitution because of this incident? Although we know the actual writer did stop her prostitution after two years. She chose to end the story of the few beautiful and unique co-workers. And totally ignored the one who leave the industry because she was obviously humiliated. Because we all know there are simply too many sex workers who enter the sex industry for all sorts of bad reasons. And they have 101 more bad reasons to not get out from it. Not because it is a job that pays well and has good work-life balance.

Its pretty superficial all along. And the part where we saw a writer but thats really just an excuse: its not really that deep and we are just in the house and we witness the new work of the main character and the difficulties: the taboo of the work, the difficulties to talk about the work to the family. We have also a part that i find pretty interesting and great: when the old guy try to satisfy the woman because he has a new girlfriend. And find that pretty intimate and nice to see how the movie get pretty intimate without the complex to show too much or too less. We saw everything: genitals. I enjoyed these moments even if it can be pretty vulgar but its a house of prostitute so its pretty understandable. We saw also the dark side of the job: the customers who become violent, the customers who dont respect the rules, the violence made to the prostitute. We saw it all and like how the movie show the authencity of the relationship(mother and daughter, sisters ), the work. A pretty interesting movie even if its pretty superfcial. Sometimes, the movie under developped some ideas about some important themes and thats why im a little bit disappointed. The beginning start pretty well but after that it become a little bit superficial and we become like a voyeur to that kind of world. Some ideas needed more developpment in my opinion even if it have some interesting moments about the womens and the mans about their relationship about sex and work and it have maybe some ideas if you cant satisfy your woman. Some moments are pretty funny and it have a nice way to make us enter that world even if we are not really interested at the beginning. A nice travel even if its pretty superficial.

No pun intended - I think that is what it is called. This was supposed to play in cinemas too. At least in Germany, but did not in the city I live in. Which is kind of a shame, but maybe for the better considering the theme/story this has. I knew it would be a bit ... racy, but nudity and location aside, it never is giving you the option to ... have a highlight (or more for that matter). That all being said, the very good looking lead has an agenda. And we learn about it quite early on. She tells us about it and it seems to make sense. As much sense as it can make for a character like hers to hire to be ... well paid for "services". The movie does have a few cliches, but on the other hand, they would not be that, if they didn't actually happen ... it is tough when it gets rough (not consensual) or even when the psychological war(fare) is on ... but the movie is also trying to paint a picture of unity ... if many have the same ... let's call it fate, they will stick together, they will try to overcome (not that one) stuff as a group ... and that is what being human is ultimately about ... if the message is worth it ... well I think it is but maybe you do not feel that watching the whole movie is ...
