It's too much, definetily, it's too much. Just wow. Storyline, cast, directing, acting, producing - just another level. I'm sure that once you watch, you'll have a bond at the end of this film. I don't why but every movie that a bicycle is main object will be always kind of sad and masterpiece, on the other hand.
The film was like a race to me. It outruns my expectation and kept me in the seat till the end. The boy (Cyril) acted fiercely and I was stunned. Samantha also did her part very well. The Dardenne Brothers showed it again and the movie never disappoints me for a moment. I must say, Le gamin au vélo is the modern masterpiece.
The acting is so natural that for a second you think you are watching a real life scene . The photography and the angles are spectacular putting the viewr in the heart of the actions. The shocking realtions between people the dark matters that sround us make our life unbearable despite all the cruelty there are kind hearted people willing to help . Fabulous breath taking movie totally recommended.
It is amazing! He is aggressive. He relies on the assault whenever he is anger. He ignore what people talk to him.People try to know what he think of,but it is so difficult. He want to be alone, and don't to say whatever about him.It is natural that other men are confused seeing this naive boy. What the leading women did looks pretty common. That is why the film is so brilliant.Maybe almost people think of it as a little bit monotonous.I know.It doesn't have a outstanding scene and the last scene lacks highlight. But it deserves watching.
Why do adults tell children to "calm down" when they have no idea how to do so - and, in this film, to "accept" that his father does not want to see him? The youth worker tells Cyril to "Accept it". Yeh, that's easy isn't it - most adults struggle with rejection, how much harder is that for a child? So that made me angry to start with. But ironically, in many ways in the film, Cyril does just accept what happens to him, with his beautiful, deceptively expressionless face. Social services and the law appear to move a lot faster in France than they do in England - I'm sure it would take MONTHS to be accepted as a foster carer. But obviously that doesn't help move a drama along... Fantastically understated performances and direction - no goo in sight.
The narrative of the movie is fresh. This is not a tender movie but a youth and growth story of a boy abandoned by his parents. Growth is rebellious. The boy grew up in haste. He deviated from the track on a bicycle, and with the support of kind people, he returned to the sunshine and continued his life. It is better to let him grow up under the care of those who truly cherish and value him. What kind of person a child will become in the future depends largely on how the person who raised him treats him.
Brutally honest but warm at its core. The score of this film was used sparingly, close to No Country For Old Men devoid of score throughout, but it worked to get us entrapped in this beautiful and engaging story of a young boy unable to cope with the fact that his father has rejected him and a kind hairdresser taking him in on weekends. A strong child performance, Cyril's character was someone who was so troubled, yet we understand. Cecile De France isn't my favorite actress for no reason. This movie proves how talented she is and why I want her to be in so much more. The directing and writing were phenomenal. This movie is depressing but strangely enlightening. The character arches are fantastic and this movie is surprisingly unpredictable. A truly beautiful film and an honest portrayal of such an I ruining concept, this film has so few flaws and begs to be seen by more people.
"The Kid with a Bike" (2011) The title says all A troubled kid, abandoned Finds sad hairdresser Mother and son humanized Uneventful raw Dardenne (Tanka (短歌 tan-kah) poems are short poems that are five lines long, with the 5-7-5-7-7 syllable format.) #Tanka #PoemReview
I decided to watch this movie because all the reviews said it was a beautiful movie. Well, I don't know if we watched a different movie but I do no recommend this movie at all. This movie is about a kid, Cyril, whose dad left him and does not desire to have any contact with him. Cyril meets a lady who later becomes his foster parent, then he meets a bad guy and gets into some trouble, and finally Cyril's foster parent helps him out of it and THE END! There's nothing special about this movie. Definitely not a memorable movie.
