They had a real opportunity to show some humility with this picture and unveil circuses and such attractions for what they are: cruel and disastrous to the animals forced to endure the horrible conditions. Instead they made a less-than-average picture, lacking all the charm of Disney's usual productions while shying away from the crux of the story. Wishy-washy and uneventful. The saddest part of the film was the lack of compassion by the storytellers.
It has nothing on Ivan making the sign. Instead, we get a filler escape scene.
I don't understand how Disney can make a movie like this nowadays. A film about animal cruelty, to put it bluntly. It is aimed at children, you get that because the animals talk, but it is really a really tragic story. No comedy. You get to see pictures of the real Ivan that the film is based on at the end. It was the only worthwhile moment. I give one extra star because of the animation. The rest gets one star.
I found this movie to be slow and even lethargic. I kept waiting and hoping for the pace to pick up but it never did. I found myself fast forwarding thru most of it; The most confusing thing is, this movie can't make up it's mind if it's a comedy or drama. Skip it, don't waste your time.
Mack's mall show is starting to fizzle. Ivan the incredible gorilla isn't bringing in the crowds like he used to. So he finds a new headliner and Ivan isn't sure how to feel about it. He would be content to draw with Julia and stay in his cage forever, but he wants freedom and protection for his friends. But what can a lone gorilla do? In this heartwarming movie, based on a true story, friendship and creativity save the day in more ways than one. You can catch it now streaming on Disney plus! A beautiful reminder that we all need friendship and hope to get by, this one is definitely worth streaming with the family!
Wow! The graphics / CGI were amazing. Ivan and his friends look and move so real. I would've given this movie a 10 for storyline and quality but I am not someone that likes movies with talking animals so due to personal preference I rated it a 9 which is very high considering animals that talk aren't my thing, so that says a lot! It was cool they way it shows some old real footage of Ivan. Also, the little dog "Bob" makes the show! It did mess with my mind a bit when Disney says its a true story because something tells me Ivan and his friends did not actually talk, I guess I better "google-it" to be sure???? If you like movies about animals this is a MUST-SEE, if you don't like them, it is still a SEE. Also, very clean to watch with whole family young and old. Leaves everyone with a warm and happy feeling :D
